Strong, durable, comfy

In early 2010,I got a pair of black American Apparel leggings that I loved & wore extremely often for almost 4 years. By late fall 2013,however,they had predictably become quite worn -- they had a few holes & were bit faded & were so stretched out that they were practically falling off me (not ideal for leggings!).I'm not complaining;almost 4 years is a good run for leggings worn about 2-3 times a week except in the summer (I also have a brown pair that I bought at the same time but wore much less & those are still in great shape)but it was definitely time for a new pair! I wanted to buy another pair of those same AA leggings but the price had gone up quite a bit, my budget was tight & I couldn't find them on sale anywhere. It was December & I really wanted black leggings for the winter so, after looking around & reading the reviews for several different brands/styles, I decided to order these, which were not exactly cheap as far as leggings go but were definitely more reasonably priced than the AA ones. I figured if I didn't like them as much as the AA ones, I could order those when my bank account recovered a bit from the holidays or I found them on sale. I never ended up ordering the AA ones, though, bc these are great! They are high quality (no holes or fading after several months of very frequent wear), very comfortable & fit well. I am just slightly smaller, weight-wise, than the "average" woman (I'm 5'5 1/2" -- I usually round up to 5'6" but for the sake of helping others chose the right size, I'll refrain from doing so here ;)-- & weigh about 115 lbs, maybe 120 when I've been particularly hungry or 110 when I've been exercising every day or coming off an illness) & typically wear an XS in women's clothing unless the brand runs small & the XS in these fit well.I could probably gain an extra 10-15 lbs or lose 5-10 lbs & they'd still fit well -- leggings are nice like that! They are thick enough that I wasn't cold wearing them outside in the winter, though it typically doesn't get all that cold where I live. I did wear them with a skirt & warm boots on a few days when it was in the 30s & 40s ,though,& was fine.I wasn't, however, outside for all that long -- the longest was 25 minutes while supervising recess; I wouldn't wear them if I were going to be out walking all day unless it was at least in the low 50s. I also wore them outside for quite a while on several days it the 70s-low 80s & was not at all hot. I finally had to retire them for the season when it got to be warmer than that, however :) The only slight drawback is that they are rather long on me. My legs are pretty short for someone my height -- I have a somewhat long torso & a kind of big head lol -- so I run into that problem with women's pants fairly often (unless I get a short/petite pair). I'm guessing, though, that they would be a bit long on even someone my height with legs that are proportionate to her height as they seem longer than most women's pants. It's not a major issue for me bc I generally wear them with boots & when I wear them w/ other shoes/sandals I can just pull them up higher on my torso without them looking noticeably different, especially since I always wear leggings with a skirt, tunic, or dress. If you plan on wearing them with both a shorter top & shoes/sandals instead of boots, however, the length might be a problem. Read more

Comfortable and long

When purchasing these, I couldn't decide between the American Apparel Winter Leggings, which I've had and loved in the past, or these, and went with these because of the wide band on top. I'm pretty glad I went with these. PROS: LENGTH: They are LONG. I am 5'9 and tend to have problems with leggings, where the crotch wants to be around my mid thighs. I got these in Medium and they fit perfectly. There's even a little extra fabric for some tasteful bunching on the ankles, which I love. SUPPORTIVE BAND: The band is very thick and supportive, so the leggings stay up really well throughout the day. I hardly have to pull them on at all CONS: COLOR: They aren't TRUE black, more like a deep warm burnt umber, so that when I wear them with black socks or black shoes or a black skirt, you can tell the difference in color. This might seem like a petty con, but when I wear them to a nicer occasion or to work, it looks like they are faded or mismatched with the rest of my outfit, which isn't great. THICKNESS: They are thick, but not as thick as the American Apparel Winter Leggings. Because I no longer live in the frigid Midwest and am now in Seattle, I think that difference in thickness will be fine, but if you're someone who spends time outside in terrible weather, it would probably be worth your while to go with the AA Leggings. All in all, these are a great product, and if they changed the color to a true black, I would definitely be a repeat customer. Read more

A much needed addition to Hue's line of leggings!

WKFebruary 10, 2014✓ Verified purchase

My best fit in jeans is usually a size 6, so a size M in leggings is actually a better fit, but I like where the waistband hits on me in size L. I like these leggings when working around the house, painting, ect... The lower waistband on their original style makes me prefer a size large in these leggings, since it's more about comfort than looks. I received a size smaller than I ordered and they turned out to be a perfect fit, and a truly great pair of leggings By no fault of the seller, I received these in a size M. The packaging said size large, but the inside tag read M. I contacted the seller, and she sent me a return shipping label right away. I took my niece shopping in a mall the next day, and I picked up a pair in size L. The size L were big on me, but I was thrilled with the high and wide waistband. I hadn't shipped the size M back yet, so I opened them up again and tried them on. I have to laugh at myself for not realizing a M in the Ultra Leggings might be just what I needed, since the lower and thinner waistband was my reason for going up a size in the first place. The Ultra Leggings waistband not only sits higher, but because it is an actual band, I find it more comfortable, and it stays in place much better than the thin strip of elastic on the original style. A better fitting legging with no need to tug them back up after sitting make these leggings something I'll wear out and about with a tunic and casual boots. FYI: If your looking for a comfortable high-waist jean with some stretch, sans the "Mom jean" effect, try Levis 512. Read more

Plus sizes have huge waists and "pregnant" tummy shape

FayOctober 22, 2023✓ Verified purchase

Not sure about the misses sizing as the photos looked pretty normal but the 2x fit me well in the calf area, OK in legs (roomy not tight), bigger in hips than I needed and HUGE in the waist. So DO check the sizing chart if you actually have a waist. The waistband came up under my breasts as I don't have a huge tummy. So DEPENDING on your shape this may or may not work. The fabric is very nice. Packaging hard to open and stressful. No way at all to get it back as it was. I have LOTS to well fitting 2x leggings so this was a surprise. :D Lighter fabric than most leggings but thick weave so not cheap looking. Read more
