The mirror is a good size, great for doing makeup at a desk. I use it for my college dorm, and it has worked really well for me. The plastic and the base is very sturdy, not flimsy at all. It is a bit difficult to remove the base if you need to put the mirror away. To remove it you can pinch the notches inward and pull the neck of the mirror out of the base. Upon opening up the mirror I was surprised by how clear the glass was. I could see every detail and the higher magnifications let you see all the details on the face. The 10x circle mirror can be attached with suction cups but it prevents you from folding the mirror closed, so I use it separately. The 10x is perfect for doing eyebrows or eye makeup. The lights on the mirror are bright and can be adjusted to be dimmer or brighter. The lowest light setting is still quite bright, especially when I need to do makeup early when light levels are low, the brightness is a bit to intense.
