Durable, warm winter jacket
I was looking for a second winter jacket as I bought a down Eddie Bauer one already. Over the past year I've lost about 20 lbs. and so my prior size large jackets are too big. I am buying medium. The fit is good overall, but I would have liked a touch more room in the shoulders area. This coat has a nice, soft, thick interior material, very warm, and smooth sleeve linings so you can wear a thin long-sleeved shirt under it. That's what I do in winter, a zip-up thin fleece and then the coat over the top. I walked around the neighborhood at night a few nights ago, when temps were only about 40, and it kept me warm. I was only wearing a short-sleeve golf shirt under it, and gloves on my hands. (and some pants of course, ha) The outer fabric is super durable - much sturdier than a typical Columbia or North Face jacket, maybe designed for snowboarding / skiing or ?? The sleeves have velcro adjustments at the wrist. The zipper is large and smooth, there are cinch cords on the 2 sides of the hood also. The pockets are handy and the overall look of the coat is sharp, good. One gripe I have is that the hood seems almost too large. Even cinched down it still can be a bit loose. There is a large brim as well. I wonder if the hood was designed to fit over a helmet? But it is still warm, and easy to adjust. This coat was on sale for about 1/2 price, a good deal, and it just seems solidly built. Amazon recommended size Lg but I chose Medium and that fits well. I am about 5ft. 10" and 170 lbs at last check. Read more
