I got the hygger Aquarium Heater to replace an old heater in my 200-gallon saltwater fish tank. The heater is well designed. I love that it is explosion-proof. I have had heaters explode on me in the past. I appreciate the external temperature display. It makes viewing easy. It comes well packaged. It has a detailed manual. I’ve used hygger products in the past a was pretty happy. I love that this has an external controller so you don’t have to reach into the tank and get wet to make tweaks (during fish medications etc). I also like the higher watt options. Obviously two medium heaters give you that redundancy, but for large tanks it’s nice to have a “main” and a backup or two. Note that it warns you about keeping the controller away from water. But it does come with an option to hang it elsewhere (shown in photos). I originally bought this for my large stock tank for pre-treating water for my larger tanks, but I may end up stealing this for one of my tanks instead. Pretty cool design. I ordered the 1200W model. I've purchased other variations of this heater in the past and they work quite well. I'm currently using this one on my 120 gallon and it does a great job of heating quickly. The heater has an external control box where you set your desired temperature. It also displays the current temperature, the set temperature, and current energy use. The control box has a high and lo alarm to alert you if the water temperature gets too far outside the set parameters. My only warning is to be sure you use another thermometer and don't rely solely on the built in one. This heater will heat almost a full degree hotter than the set temperature before shutting off. So far this hygger 1200W heater seems solid and it’s been keeping my tank temperature stable. The external controller/display is a big plus—setup was straightforward, adjusting the temperature is simple, and I like being able to see both the current temp and the set temp at a glance without putting my hands in the water. One thing to note: multiple independent thermometers are reading about 2°F lower than what the heater/controller thinks the water is. That makes me suspect a small calibration offset (at least on my unit). It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does mean you may need to compensate when setting your target temperature if you notice the same difference in your setup. Overall, it’s been reliable for maintaining consistent heat, just verify the actual temp with a separate thermometer and adjust accordingly. Read more

I've always been a fan of hygger products, this one didn't change my mind at all. It works great in my aquarium tank, heated up nicely, temps are all running at a 0.1F delta currently on accuracy. Im happy with this. Great product for the price. Well built. No complaints here! Read more

Every heater I get, I always test out in a separate bucket to registered how accurate of a heater it will be. I left this in a 5 gallon bucket expecting it to not be hot and practically burned my finger testing the water! This heater is not off at all by any degrees! I was going to store this heater as a backup but decided to put it in my saltwater tank because I needed to add in my backup heater! This heater lives up to the expectations. Read more
