So far so good. Plug n go. The water registered from the cold February tap, less than 59 degrees. I set it to 77. Once it reached 59 degrees, It took a few hours to get to 77 in a 40 gallon tank. I have a suction cup thermometer and an inferred and they all agree on the temp. I am super happy with it. Read more

There are negative comments below, but I'd still rate this a five star heater. Please read the details below. I really liked the careful packaging for this heater. It fit nicely in the foam insert that is inside a box that closes tightly with a tab that tucks in rather than just having a taped top. This heater is considerably larger than I had expected which makes hiding or disguising it a bit more difficult, but not impossible with the right plants. I am surprised at the amount of heat this heater produces. I have a 30 gallon tank and I was hoping that this would work for my current tank AND the future larger tank I am hoping to acquire... but sadly, it doesn't work as well as I hoped. The tank stays just a little too warm even on the lowest setting. I had to install this heater at an angle directly under my HOB (Hang On Back) filter to help disperse the heat. Even this wasn't quite enough. The heater would probably be wonderful for someone with a larger tank or who has colder weather conditions, but in southern Arizona, it isn't cold enough to warrant the amount of heat I got out of this heater... even during the coldest month of winter. I had to remove it from the tank and put it into storage until I get my larger tank. The wires are of an adequate length for most setups. The controller comes with a nice holster that can be attached to the side of the tank or the wall, but it must be stored outside of your tank, so you need to have a place where you can access it or see it without moving it. Keeping fish is like keeping pets, it's like having a television you have to feed. And remember, this is not a hobby. It is an addiction! I am looking forward to getting my larger tank now, just to be able to use this nice heater. Read more

I love this company, I have several full tanks with all hygger gear and they work great and are inexpensive. One thing i really like about them is that they have a lot of very specialized gear for your tanks. the aquarium heater here is great, i have it currently in my 100 gallon tank, and it keeps the temp regulated perfectly. I really like the safety features, having it shut off if the water gets too low is a real high point. Keep in mind this is for bigger tanks, i have it with a black knife fish and he seems to enjoy the temp its putting out. The digital display really helps keep track of things. It was packaged super nicely and was simple to set up. I feel it will last a long time. Hygger keeps pumping out great products, stick with them over your big box store stuff for better prices and longer lasting products. Read more

Heater works great however suction cups don't work very well. Heater keeps coming off glass. It is heavy enough to not float up thank goodness. Also the holder for the controller is too small Read more

I’m using this hygger adjustable heater on a 55-gallon discus tank where higher temperatures are required, and it’s performed really well. Starting from room temperature, it brought the tank up about 20 degrees without struggling, which is impressive for a heater in this size range. The external digital controller is a big upgrade over basic dial heaters. It’s easy to set the temperature precisely, and you can check it at a glance without putting your hands in the tank. The adjustable power (250W/500W) is also nice since it gives you some flexibility depending on tank size and heating needs. So far it’s been holding temperature steadily, and the automatic power-off protection adds some extra peace of mind. For medium to larger tanks — especially ones that run warmer like discus setups — this heater has plenty of power and works as advertised. I've always had great luck with the hygger brand, and this is another item they produce that doesn't disappoint! Read more

Old heater tanked after years of perfect service. I spent 5 hours researching and reading reviews due to my old heater no longer being available company went out of business. I landed on this heater here. Reviews looked great. Priced on the higher end so everything matched up. While it lasted (2weeks) it was amazing. Heated the tank within 3 hours. Temps stayed stabilized daily and the display pad/controller were top tier. Tank is very well maintained, placed and stocked. Came home one day from work and my heater malfunctioned reading HH and beeping. Checked my water temp with two outside sources and readings are coming in at 77° on one and 75° on the other. Unplug this heater for 30 minutes and plug it back in it reads 94° for 6 seconds and starts beeping again while it HH warning comes back. Fish are fine. Water temps are nowhere near that hot. It's actually colder than it should be because heater shut off due to faulty reading. I'll give it two stars for not frying my fish malfunctioning the other way but this thing costs too much money for it to only last 2 weeks. I've been fish keeping for years with massive well kept tanks. Maybe bad luck on one single bad unit. However this is my experience. Read more
