I have had eheim and fluval heaters and let me tell you, they do not hold a candle to this one especially considering the price. The eheim was always so annoying as the temperature you set would never match the tank temp even after countless attempts at calibration. Also, the suction cups used on them are very very weak and begin to be less effective over time. In addition to this due to the design everytime you want to adjust the temp you must stick your hands in the tank and manually move the dial (and given the fact that I could never get the dial temp to match the actual tank temp it would produce, this was such a hassle)! I only wish I would have discovered these amazing heaters sooner. Stick it in, and then you have an external control unit that you set the temperature with with the touch of a button. Truly a beautiful thing. I purchased 2 of the 300W units for my new 75 gallon build (I know I could have purchased a higher wattage but I prefer 2 individual units in the event one fails there is still a backup and if it fails in the sense that one misreads temp and overheats, it is not powerful enough to overheat the tank). I have both of them mounted behind my 3d background next to each intake of my canister filters in opposite corners and it is performing FLAWLESSLY thus far. Horrible! It killed my saltwater tank. I smelt burning planting and found it melted in my tank. I was in the middle of a water change and moved it to the front of my tank so it would keep the remaining water heated. I would love if someone would reach out for a refund. Read more

I haven’t put it in the tank yet, But I also have a 500w in my 125 gal, and it works great. My water temp. is right on. So I’m expecting the same with the 300w in my 75 gal. I really like the heaters. Thank you very much. Read more

I purchased the next larger unit to service a 20G tank (less than a year ago). When it works, its a charm but it lasted only about 6 months then just stopped. Too bad. Good components in the "temperature" feedback loop but it's non-modular design makes it non-robust. When something gives in the loop, you have to throw away the whole bath water. So a poor review for a poor design. I picked up the tried and true "pencil" heater for my little 20G tank. Updated: Okay, my heater died on me but the customer service was/is excellent and rapidly sent me a replacement. Pretty cool eh! These units, when the run, are like rocks so I'm back in business. So in fairness I changes my rating. Not quite 5 since the unit mysteriously dies but well worth a try for large tanks. Read more

Excellent heater, the separate temperature gage I have agrees with the temperature that I set on this. The temperature is kept much more stable in my tank with this heater than my previous one. Read more
