Had this heater less than a year and last night it started beeping and had HH on display, said the water was at 95 degrees. My water is barely at 71. It is also showing 0 watts. I have used Hygger products in the past, and have several of their LED lights so I knew this would be a quality item. I am using this in a 55 gallon tank, fwiw. Setup was about as easy as it gets, just press the button until it shows the desired temperature and that's it. The suction cups are very strong and hold it well. I love the display because it can mount on the side of my tank stand, and I was able to remove the old glass thermometer. I can see at a glance the temperature, and the tank looks cleaner without a thermometer in it. Being a dual-tube unit, the heater is wider than typical heaters but in use it is barely noticeable in my tank because I have a black background and lots of plants. It tells you when it's heating and it heats the water quickly when it is operating. It also shows you how much amps it is drawing. I checked the temperature against a digital food thermometer and it is accurate. I tested the auto-shutoff by pulling it out of the water and it worked well and sounds a beeping alarm. The 1 year warranty is just icing on the cake. This is a much better heater than the Fluval it is replacing - that one was hardly accurate and had none of the bells and whistles this has, yet cost the same as this. I am convinced that Hygger is becoming one of the premium brands on the market. Can't go wrong with this one - recommended highly. Read more

I bought this heater due to having a lot of snails getting into the normal heater cases with smaller holes and ending up being trapped and cooked as they grew too big to escape. While this heater seemed like a good idea with such large openings, within 24 hours of setting it up I already had a bristlenose pleco go inside and get trapped and cooked. There is a gap between the two quartz tubes inside the top and bottom that is smaller than the gaps of the protective shield case. Once my fish went inside, he couldn't back out, and was cooked to death. The heater itself is fine and worked great. Just please remember that if your fish can fit inside, they might not make it back out. Read more

I've really grown respect for Hygger Aquarium equipment over the past couple years. They are one of the most reliable brands that offer lower-priced hardware, and this heater is no exception. It's currently running on a 75 gallon freshwater tank and it WORKS. I normally don't prefer the quartz/glass heaters, but the design and features of this unit make that a non-issue. The fact that it detects low water levels and automatically shuts off is my favorite selling point. I've cracked more than one glass heater in the past while doing water changes and not paying attention to the water level at the heater. That's a non-issue with this one. Similarly, I appreciate the auto-off at a certain temperature. I've fortunately never had a heater get stuck on and cook my fish, and I wanna keep it that way. The controller is great as well. No more wet hands trying to fiddle with knobs on heaters, this one is fantastically simple. I tested the water temperature with multiple thermometers and it stayed within 1 degrees of the set temp, so I'm happy there Overall, this is the best heater I've owned for my aquariums. This heater was a major upgrade from my previous in tank heaters. I love being able to adjust the temperature easily, accurately, and without having to stick my hand in the water. Worked great for about 3 months then stopped heating. Watt reader on device will not show more than 0 watts even after setting 5 degrees higher and waiting 1 hour. The lights plus around the meter as if the heater is attempting to bring the temp up but the Watt reader continues to show "0". I'm asking seller to contact me and or replace asap. Read more
