I’ve purchased this spray a couple of time and have found it to be somewhat beneficial. Unlike some other reviews here, I actually weirdly like the slightly pool/chlorine smell. I have sprayed it just to get that blast of summer memories during the long winter months. It seems to calm down my acne and problematic skin, but I'm not sure how much. That being said, after doing more research, I realized I couldn’t find an official company website or clear brand information for “Aquia,” which made it difficult to verify how the product is formulated or tested. The ingredient list is very minimal (water + 0.015% hypochlorous acid), which suggests the formula may not be buffered. Btw, 0.015% HOCl = ~150 parts per million (ppm). That is within the typical skin-use range (100–200 ppm) Why does buffering matter? I did the deep dive so you don't have to, but please take note I'm just an ADHD mom on a mission and NOT a skin care professional. I guess hypochlorous acid tends to be most skin-friendly when its pH is kept stable. Without buffering, the chemistry can drift over time, which may increase the chlorine smell and be more irritating for people with sensitive or reactive skin (rosacea, eczema, etc). Ironically, the smell I enjoyed may actually be a sign of that instability. This doesn’t mean the product is unsafe (I don't think), but now that I understand more about buffering and formulation stability, I would personally like to try a different brand that is more transparent about these details, especially for long-term facial use.
