I’m really impressed with the quality of this KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment. The interior has a sturdy metal-like material that feels durable, while the exterior is made of plastic, which keeps it from being too heavy or awkward to handle. The plastic also makes it much more comfortable to grab straight out of the freezer since it doesn’t get as icy-cold to the touch. It is fairly large, so you do need a good amount of freezer space, definitely something to keep in mind. It works best when it’s been frozen for over 24 hours, so storing it in the freezer when it’s not in use is the easiest way to make sure you’re always ready for a batch of ice cream without having to plan too far ahead. It looks like the listing has changed from what I ordered and received. My set up fits on the bowl area and uses the normal attachment area for the churner (though it doesn't lock into place and is a bit awkward to set up). The whole set up works well and the ice cream we made was tasty. It was easy to set up and to clean afterwards. If this smaller one is of the same quality I think it's worth the price. It will make less ice cream (mine made roughly 18 scoops with a standard ice cream scoop). It does look a bit more complicated from my set up but that's probably due to where it attaches. I really like mine but I suggest looking at other reviews that actually have the same small model. Read more

I purchased for my friend who has everything except for free space so the "personal" size is perfect for her already crammed freezer, it's sturdy, and she uses it ALL the time which is super fun. She's in her 70's so it's awesome hearing her go on and on about how her grandmother used to make specific ice creams back in the day while also TRYING the ice creams.
