I gave 5 stars but had some learning issues. Major, end piece where ice cream comes out screws in opposite direction . lefty tightly and righty loosey. Had to use a plumbers wrench and scratched it trying to remove. It survived my abuse so I would say this thing is durable. I also should have ripened the bananas more for sweetness. Next time will add some other fruit 50/50 with ripe bananas. It is kind of a messy cleanup also. Not something I want to do every day. Maybe once a week. Read more

PRO: Product comes neatly packaged. Packaging includes list of compatible makes and models of blenders on which the unit can mount. Instruction literature includes a small recipe book which gives guidelines for how long frozen fruit should thaw before placing appropriately sized pieces of fruit in the chute. Assembly is very easy. Instructions are clear and well written. The assembled unit attaches easily to the front of my mixer. The rotating shaft that attaches to the mixer is made of heavy duty metal. The blades on the rotating shaft are metal so they easily tear up the fruit. The main body has a small lock icon printed on it so you can see appropriate positioning to lock the extrusion cover. Hand washing the product was easy and I observed no tiny crevices to capture food particles. CON: Not so much a con as an observation, but when pressing down with the pusher cylinder to drive fruit into the main chamber, the entire body flexes downward slightly due to the pressure. The connection between the dessert maker and the blender is strictly for the blender to mechanically drive the dessert maker. It is not made to withstand the force of pushing down on the pusher cylinder. For this reason, I recommend that when you're pushing down on the pusher cylinder to drive fruit into the main chamber, you use your other hand to help support the body of the dessert maker so as not to put undue stress on the joint where the dessert maker meets the blender. VERDICT: This frozen fruit dessert maker works exactly as advertised and performs well. This is a fun product to turn frozen fruit into refreshing desserts. Highly recommend! Read more

I thought this would be nice to add a little extra to either ice cream toppings or pie fillings and I was right. It fits right on the end of the mixer with just a couple twists and turns you're ready to start putting your fruits and ice cream mix in the top. The consistency comes out a little thinner if you don't know what you doing like myself but after a few different tries I was able to get some nice soft ice cream going. Fun for the kids as they love to do it and it is very easy to clean up. Read more

This Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker Attachment for Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer from the OTOmitra Store makes Dairy-Free Frozen Yogurt and Fruit Sorbet and is dishwasher safe. It doesn't really come with 'recipes', just suggestions of different fruits to use and some suggestions of other add-ins and they all sounded good. I tested it with blueberries and a little added sugar. The device is sturdy and seems well made and the parts were all present and accounted for. It fits my big KA stand mixer in the usual standard way and its easy to set up. It has some little nozzles that screw on the dispenser spout that give the product a star or ridged shape (like a cake decorating tip) but I did not use these, I wanted to see how it worked first and they are just decoration. As suggested, I allowed about 2 cups of blueberries to stand out on the counter to thaw a little while I set everything up. When I started grinding the berries, they extruded well and the product was very smooth. After a minute or 2, I found that the blueberries were freezing inside the attachment so I had to remove it and run it under hot water to get it flowing again which caused some melting and dripping. I reduced the amount of blueberries I was feeding in at one time and this helped so now I know. It does say in the instructions that it will take practice with different fruits to get a consistent product but it did not warn about fruit freezing inside, so just be aware that it can happen and it's messy to fix. Next time I will set up my mixer next to the sink instead of across the room! I am excited to try different fruits and also to try adding cream or yogurt and other mix-ins to get different flavors and textures. We love ice cream and this is an easy, low sugar, way to get some whenever we want it! Read more

This ice cream maker is pretty hefty and seems to be made of high quality materials. Unfortunately, I didn’t look at all of the product information before ordering and found out the hard way that it doesn’t fit my mixer. Read more

I ordered this for some healthy treats, and it's amazing for both soft-serve sorbets and getting a great texture for homemade fruit popsicles. Installation is easy, as it just pops onto the accessory connector on the front of my KitchenAid. I don't need to freeze this before using it like I have to with the ice cream maker bowl, so this has ended up becoming my go-to for frozen desserts. I just buy bags of frozen fruit and freeze peeled bananas, leaving me an easy supply to make a snack anytime I have the urge; chopping the bananas and freezing them on a baking sheet before bagging them makes it simple to just grab a few pieces and have a bowl of sorbet ready in 10 minutes. I sometimes have issues with bananas triggering allergy issues, so I've also had good results with using overnight oats, yogurt, or applesauce instead to add that creamy soft-serve texture. Cleanup is easy, too--just unscrew the threaded end and take the pieces apart, wash them in the sink or on the top rack of the dishwasher, and reassemble so the sorbet maker is ready to grab and make something sweet.
