I haven't used the Kitchenaid brain, so I can't compare. I have the lift stand mixer, and the fit is kind of weird. It doesn't sit or lock into place the way you want it to, and I'd not very sturdy while running. That said, it actually works really well. It has a large capacity and makes great ice cream. Any online recipe will work. It's relatively lightweight and easy to store. Just mage sure you freeze at least 24 hours before use. Read more

I gave this five stars based on the concept, build quality and simplicity of the product. That said, I was not able to test it, it doesn't fit my stand mixer. I've included photos of my mixer, in case you happen to have the same one. My mixer doesn't have a model number or anything like that, so I was hoping this would "just work". It did not. The media could not be loaded. I used this ice cream maker attachment with my bowl lift kitchen aid stand mixer and it fits great. It slides on to the piece next to the rotating metal piece. It doesn't seem to snap on, but it stays securely and the bowl fits perfectly underneath it. The bowl also snaps in perfectly to where the original bowl does. I have a light pastel blue mixer and I got the pink bowl, and the pastel colors look nice together. It is very easy to set up on the mixer and simple to operate. There was plenty of room in our chest freezer for the bowl, but it will also fit in our refrigerator freezer. We left it in the deep freezer for a few days before actually using it, but about 24 hours the second time. Both times it worked perfectly. My husband made a traditional frozen custard the first time, and his own recipe with ice cream and splenda the second time. Both recipes turned out great and took only about 20 to 30 minutes to freeze nicely to the right creamy consistency, with chilled ingredients. It made enough for our family of 4 to have a good size serving. The churning worked great for us. My husband made the recipes and chilled the ingredients, then let them churn while we watched t.v. When he checked on it after a while it was ready. It does not appear to be straining the motor and everything stayed in place. The noise level was normal for the kitchen aid and I can say it didn't bother us while listening to the t.v. It doesn't say that while the churning parts are dishwasher safe the bowl isn't. Iy hasn't been an issue though since we like to wash it immediately after use and put it back in the freezer for next time. All of the parts including the bowl seem very good quality and well made. The bowl and parts seem durable and have not shown any signs of wear. Using this attachment ice cream maker is *alot* easier and faster than using traditional stand alone ice cream makers that we have used before, where you have to add ice and rock salt and for me has taken a long time to get the mixture frozen to the right consistency. With this there is no hassle, no mess, no rock salt. Just freeze the bowl and add ingredients and let it go. This is definitely a good quality attachment for the mixer and a good value for the price. Fits great, works great. Quality construction should last for a long time. Great value for a classic homemade icecream experience that you don't need a standalone machine for, nor to hand crank. Quite easy to clean, though as per usual one shouldn't put these in the dishwasher. The only down side to this is the size and therefor quantity it can make. This is actually awesome, but it takes up a LOT of freezer space to put the bowl in prior to using, so be aware of that. Read more
