Amazing, Wonderful, Chefs Kiss.
The media could not be loaded. For my birthday, I was gifted a beautiful 5qt KitchenAid stand mixer by my boyfriend. It’s been a week since I received it and so far I’ve used it to make bread, shred chicken, and now make ice cream! I feel like I can do anything now, honestly. While this attachment works, I want to note that you MUST freeze the bowl for AT LEAST 2 DAYS!!! For even better results, store upside down in the freezer. I tried to make ice cream after having this in my freezer for about 14 hours, but unfortunately, it was not frozen enough to actually thicken my ice cream base. I was disappointed but did not give up! I popped this bowl back into the freezer and waited a good 48 hours before trying again and let me tell you, it WORKED!!! The attachment is actually very easy to install, however, the wording on the manual confused me a bit. All you have to do is slide the “adapter” piece onto your KitchenAid and bam, that’s about it. Insert the included whisk/mixer attachment into the bowl, then lock the bowl in place. Another piece of advice is to turn your mixer on (stirring only, no higher than that) right before pouring your mixture in. Not sure what this actually does but I heard it helps lol. The manual says you only need to churn your ice cream base for about 30 minutes, which was spot on for the recipe I used. I actually noticed it getting pretty thick 15 minutes in, which is really cool since I doubled my recipe. There were no leaks, everything locked into place easily, and the size was perfect for my 5qt mixer. If frozen correctly, you should see no signs of condensation when using. You want this thing frozen solid. That being said, it does make washing a bit difficult since the soap and water will want to freeze and stick on. I suggest washing with warm water, or waiting for the bowl to melt on its own a bit. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. It’s really easy and straightforward to use, and I’m able to store it perfectly in one of my freezer drawers. The bowl itself is also very thick and durable, I love that it works just as intended. It’s also crazy to see how easy it is to make some of your favorite treats as long as you have the right tools, a lot healthier as well. Very excited to continue using this for myself, family, and friends. I plan on buying little Kraft pints and gifting some homemade ice cream to my loved ones as well! Oh, and a side note - the consistency of your ice cream will be similar to that of soft serve. Just pop your batch into the freezer for 15 minutes to 2 hours if you want it to get nice and firm!
