I converted my spare bedroom into a gym, and needed something to protect my brand-new laminate floor from my free weights and Total Gym machine. I did a lot of research, comparison, read countless reviews and shopped both local stores and Amazon before making a decision. I considered both treadmill mats and foam flooring. The biggest problem I kept running into was size - no product I found covered a large enough surface area to fit my needs (the Total Gym is narrow, but long, close to 96 inches when fully extended). Then I stumbled across the IncStores jumbo foam tiles. I was pleasantly surprised to discover they are sold in a set of 16 tiles, each 2x2 ft. THAT was enough to cover the area I needed it to. Other Pros: - Price. At $114 and change, this was a much more affordable option than other products I'd come across. Many treadmill mats and packages of other foam tiles I found on Amazon were close to the same price, but I would have had to buy two or more sets to get the same coverage. And the gym flooring that local retailers (Home Depot, Lowe's) were selling? Their prices were just outrageous ($500+). - Composition. I had read a lot of reviews of other products that described them as having a strong, unpleasant "rubber" odor. Some product descriptions did not specify "non-toxic" or "does not contain PVC." I have two little kittens who chew and scratch just about EVERYTHING, so a safe product containing no harmful chemicals was also a must. These mats met ALL of those criteria. I was still a little nervous about ordering them; I don't like buying anything because it seems like the only viable option, but I went for it anyway. The tiles arrived much faster than I anticipated, within four business days of my placing the order. They were a cinch to put together. The product name and description are spot-on: these tiles are very soft and comfortable. They have "give" to them, but they're not flimsy. The 7/8" thickness is accurate. I'm not a yoga or Pilates person, but I imagine they'd be ideal for that purpose. I do pushups, sit-ups and other pre- and post-run floor stretches on them. Because of their softness and thickness, they'd also make a great surface for a children's play area. The tiles did slide around a little bit on the laminate floor with nothing on them, but since I've gotten them weighted down with my Total Gym they haven't moved or come apart. I've only had the tiles for a couple of weeks, so I can't speak yet to how durable they'll be long-term. However, my kittens (who are NOT declawed) constantly run, jump, play and wrestle on them and so far there's not a single hint of a scratch or tear anywhere. Bonus: I like that they come in two different color combinations: black/gray or blue/red. I chose the blue/red. It makes for a slightly less institutional and more energizing look and feel in my gym - and makes it a place where I WANT to spend time. Overall, this product meets all of my needs. It was a bargain, appears to be of excellent quality, shipped quickly and reliably. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and would recommend these tiles to anyone. Read more
Nice, thick mats. We got these for our kid to play on since he’s in the top heavy but trying to stand up phase and we have wood floors. They are thick, seem to be great quality, and are nice colors. Some other options came in black or gray and that seemed a little too much like a commercial gym, but if you get the colorful kid oriented ones they seems flimsy and thin...this was a nice compromise. These are between 3/4” and 1” thick. They are soft without having too much give. I’m a fat man and can walk on them without compressing them too much. They fit together easily but securely. I was able to lift up the whole 6’x4’ sheet as one unit to move it and they stayed together no problem. Worth the money Read more
Perfect for workouts. Just the right level of thickness. I felt that 1” thick would sink too much and slow you down on fast movements and this had the perfect level of cushion and bounce. Installation was very easy and is really easy to cut to size to fit all corners. Color is great as well. It will though damage if u drop sharp corners of weights on it. It does leaves dants from equipments sitting on it such as a bench. But given its foam one should expect that. Plus its a gym floor so will get the extra wear and tear. Perfect product. Read more
The mats are advertised to be used for martial arts. While these mats are really nice, I would not recommend them for karate. They are uniformly thick, easy to install, did not smell, springy, and easy to clean. We put them on a concrete floor in our basement and they did slide around during use until we drilled in a barrier on the edge to prevent movement. Unlike other karate mats, though, our feet slide around as soon as we work up a little sweat. So hard to control some movements. I would buy these again for other applications because quality seems good, but disappointed in these for Karate. Read more
Good stuff. It is easy to install, can be cut with a sharp, sturdy scissors or utility knife. Plenty of edge pieces for straight sections. This is not hard flooring, it is very soft foam floor. We installed over concrete with just a think foam underlayment to act as a barrier. Heavier items placed on the floor will sink in a little and leave marks. There is also some sort of coating, residue that will get on your feet and make other surfaces your walk on slippery. Not sure if that will dissipate over time or not. Not really a complaint, just an fyi for others looking at this. We have been able to work out on the floor without worry of any pieces coming loose from one another. Very happy so far. Read more
Perfect!! if you are looking for a training floor this is what you are looking for. They are perfect. Squishy Perfection! My husband and I use this in our bonus room for our training dojo. Review the comments about movement before you purchase. We have a 200 + square foot area and until we secured it Wall to Wall this sucker would walk all over the place. We have it on top of carpet that is also on top of a very thick and squishy pad so it's our fault. Once we butted it against walls in all direction it hasn't moved since. It also does not buckle. We have not used any type of tape or anything else to keep it together. The walls keep it in place. LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. It is also VERY good quality. the dog walks across it and lays on it and his Freddy Krueger claws don't seem to faze it. I would buy again Read more
I purchased the Grey and Black tiles and it works really well with our fitness and workout routine. It’s non-slip and it is thick enough to place heavy equipment/weights on it. The weights leave imprints on parts of the mat but it eventually rises back like nothing happened at all. May get more in the future to complete the workout area in my apartment. I highly recommend it. Read more
