A good, affordable player especially when sound is improved.

Uncle DukeJanuary 24, 2015

This review concerns sound quality and volume only. Nearly 1400 reviews on the BestBuy website (BB selling this currently - 1/23/15 - for $80) indicate that folks like this dvd player a lot. I found its sound production to be poor, much like an old transistor radio or some such. The sound is clear and sharp, but seems tinny , lacking depth and the kind of quality most of us are used to on TV's, car systems, etc. Quality headphones would probably improve things a lot. Plugging into car stereo, etc., likewise. I attached a small pair of old Gateway speakers from an ancient pc and this made a HUGE improvement. Helpful on the treadmill when the player is on the SurfShelf "desk" or something similar and the speakers are nearby. I like this player. Read more

This is my second DVD player. It is alright though it doesn't have a remote control which I prefer. It has a good battery life up to 3-4 hours and hardly makes any noise which is a plus for me. As for button selections, for me there is a small malfunction: Upon pressing Play/Pause, it'll sometimes Stop and pressing the skip or fast-forward/rewind buttons can sometimes pull up the Menu, Function, or Setup options that can sometimes be a pain. Other than that, it works perfectly fine and does what it's supposed to do. Read more
