Delightful

SerebaneOctober 14, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I appreciated the exploration into the manipulation and madness of what it would mean to be a vampire... and how each may fight their most eternal emotion: loneliness. Maybe it wasn't an upgrade from the first season, but certainly a good continuation. The actors nailed every scene, and I felt even then that somehow there was more that could've been told from the writing point and direction as it was often rushed in some places. But I guess that's the unfortunate loss in this day and age where eight, 45 minute episodes are all we're allowed to have in one season rather than a full ten or twenty due to forced budgets. It's hard to bring books to life without missing a lot of the important notes or qualities, or adjusting crucial moments to work on the big screen. Overall it was delightful, fun, bloody, sensual, all the qualities that the books and original movie deserved to bring fully to light. I look forward to Lestat's rock debut in the next season. Underrated Series Adaptation

Yolanda Santa CruzNovember 11, 2024✓ Verified purchase

The portrayal of the complex bond between Lestat and Louis in this series touched me deeply. That scene in the decaying New Orleans mansion left me with an ache that lingered for days, making me reflect on love, loss, loneliness, madness, manipulation, pride, acceptance, growth. It was everything. It was more. The way their relationship and characters have been shaped, thought of, cared for — it was more than acting that came through on the screen: it was art. Pure talent from a team that has created a world where, without realizing it, you find yourself living. It’s magnetic. It’s tangible. It’s the raw, bravely exposed complexity of souls who have endured “the burden of existence, what the accumulation of loss and regret does to you, and how do you pick yourself up,” as Rolin Jones so beautifully described it when speaking of Anne Rice’s vampires. I believe this team has done them justice. I think this adaptation honors Anne Rice’s core vision and intent. It exudes respect, love, and understanding for the universe she gifted us in The Vampire Chronicles, heightening that world with exquisite visuals and music. The poetry in the script, the vocal deliveries, the nuanced expressions that bring each character’s essence vividly to life... It’s a work so rich and full, and I am in awe of it. Though it saddens me that such a production hasn’t received the recognition it deserves—that I only stumbled upon it two years after its release—the deeper ache is knowing Anne herself wasn’t here to watch it. That’s how life unfolds sometimes: not all beauty is seen by the eyes that inspired it. I believe she would have been pleased. This is a masterpiece. Read more

So far, So great!

AndwynMay 18, 2024✓ Verified purchase

Though I’ve only seen the first episode so far, as a whole (including the previous season) the series is a brilliant re-telling of the critically acclaimed “Interview with the Vampire.” From the production design to the great performances, this series with enthrall both Vampire story enthusiasts and horror fans alike. Like I said however, I’ve only seen the first episode of season 2, and don’t normally write reviews before watching the whole season, but I don’t think this series will disappoint! I hope they continue to make more of Anne Rice’s incredible sagas. Read more

Movie Series Review

Dennis B.December 30, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I love this series. I have read Anne Rice's books and I saw the first movie (Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise-?) in a theater, the series has so many story lines to continue the interview. Good cast of characters and actors. Looking forward to season 3. Can you give us one more episode to this season? Read more
