Okay wow, this thing actually works. I purchased 2 of these (different sizes) for my 2 automatic skeleton watches. One is brand new and one is about 1 year old. To protect my investments, with skepticism, I searched watch screen protectors and wala. Long story short: these do apply very easily with absolutely no bubbles whatsoever. It is also crystal clear, I actually can't even tell that I put on a screen. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I don't know how or why exactly, but this thing actually made my scratched up 1-year old watch look smoother/cleaner? I'm not sure if this material managed to even out the scratches a little bit, but it actually looks better with the thing on. So apparently, not only does it protect, but it actually can make your scratched watch look better. FOR CURVED WATCH FACES: one of my watches was flat, but the other was slightly rounded. When I first tried applying on the curved one, it wouldn't go on properly. When I pressed down on one side, another lifted up, etc. The trick is to NOT put too much liquid on. At first put on a generous amount, but keep pressing from the center towards the outer edge while draining away excess liquid. Keep repeating this over and over again until the liquid starts to dry up. Once the liquid starts to dry up, the protector actually seems to get more friction/traction, and it starts to stick better. These film screen protectors are fantastic, but you need to be careful in putting them on. Every watch I own has them. They protect your watch crystal much better than the glass protectors. And they are actually fairly easy to apply. Add a drop or two of Dawn dish detergent to a small bowl of water. Clean your fingers and the crystal well. Dampen your fingers and the crystal. Peel off the protector from the backing. Shake off excess water and suds. Apply to the crystal. Slide around until it is evenly placed. If you place it incorrectly, just carefully remove and try again. Once correct, let it sit for a while. Read more
These are no better than other plastic watch screen protectors that you get 5 of for less than $10. At $15 for 2 these come out to $7.50 each + tax, or about 5 times as expensive as the competition. Do they last 5 times longer? No. They last about 2 weeks and then start bubbling up and peeling off at the edges and have to be replaced. Save your money and just buy the cheaper plastic ones. Purchased: 38mm protectors Application: Sturhling Original Automatic 371.01 I am very impressed with the quality of these protectors and am a little confused by some of the mixed reviews. I purchased the 38mm protectors for use on a Stuhrling Original Skeleton Watch. Although the case for this watch is advertised at 46mm, the crystal measures almost exactly 39mm in diameter. I went with the manufacturer's recommendation, sizing the protector down 1mm ... which was perfect. As other reviewers have noted, don't be shy with the dish detergent during your install ... I filled a pudding cup (clean) with water and then a VERY generous dollop of dish soap. After mixing the combination with my finger, I soaked all my fingers and then unpeeled the protector from its backing. Then I dunked the protector into the cup and made sure it was coated with soapy water. I plopped the protector onto a clean watch face and only needed to make a tiny adjustment to its position. For a few seconds, the protector will slide around with very little provocation. Interestingly, there were NO bubbles. More interestingly, I did NOT have to squeegee the protector. I left it alone for 10 minutes and then put the watch on. The first picture was taken immediately after the initial application, during the 10 minute drying period. The second picture was taken 10 days after the installation. I see no noticeable distortion from the protector; the edges are barely perceptible. It really just looks like I am peering through the original crystal. The Stuhrling has a very slight curvature to the glass, to which this protector had no problem adjusting. Other reviewers may be trying to install this on watches with domed glass, which I suspect would be much more challenging to accommodate. I compared this against a different product. The instructions were a bit strange, so I thought at first. It said to prepare a bowl of water with a little bit of dish soap. I was then supposed to use a few drops on the adhesive side before attaching it to the crystal. Well, it worked well. Immediately after attaching, it can slide a little, but that is good. There's room to adjust, if you do it quickly. There were hardly any visible air bubbles, but, I squeegeed it anyway. I don't know how this will last long term but as far as I'm concerned, it was easy to install, came with good instructions, and is hardly noticeable when attached. It works. I initially intended to rate this product four stars, but I am increasing my rating to five for one specific reason. Once applied, the attachment is virtually invisible unless closely inspected. However, I would like to note that this method of application is somewhat traditional; it involves using a water and soap solution on the back before placing it on the watch, similar to how one would apply a sticker to a car window by squeezing out the water from underneath. That said, if you are comfortable with this application process, I believe the optical benefits of the attachment's invisibility outweigh any minor concerns.
