This trash can has been the champion of our family by far. I personally found it very easy to clean, and it fits very well in the small kitchen we have! While this did replace a larger trash can which caused us to have to take out trash sooner, the addition of a recycling section in an all-in-one unit that doesn't take up a large footprint has been a blessing. So far it has mostly survived all three kids, but not without minor issues. Bear in mind that the stainless steel model *will* show dents and scratches, so as long as you aren't dragging things across it or smacking things into it hard, this is a non-issue. Obviously for me with 3 kids, I cannot and will not complain because it comes with the territory! One of the shocks has failed, and it looks like the other one is starting to fail as well. It appears the leak is coming out of the top seal where the plunger goes through, so it probably just wore out. After 5 years and literally tens of thousands of times absorbing closing forces... Still not going to complain. That is a great service life for something like this! The interior plastic started to break apart, but I think this is moreso caused by us dropping the containers in. Seeing as how it is only one side, I'll leave that up to you to decide if that is a big deal but it doesn't affect structural rigidity or function so again ... Not going to complain! At the end of the day, it has been a phenomenal investment and easily took the place of a larger trash and smaller separate recycling bin. The only thing I wish is that it would stop sliding around, but some quick sticky pad work made this a non issue. If you are looking for a stylish, durable, trash can than can survive the rigors of kids: this will do the trick. While it does have some minor durability concerns, none of them affected operation - as I type this, I have the kids removed and am sanitizing the cans! A great buy I have never once regretted! One of the very few garbage + recycling combos that is short enough to fit under our counter yet large enough to hold a good amount of trash and recyclables. The motion sensor works as promised--nice and snappy--and the lid stays open long enough so you don't have to rush to get stuff thrown away. Handles make pulling out the bins quick and easy. Only reason this is not a five-star review is that the buttons by the sensor (for non-sensor operation) are a little big and klunky-looking. Detracts from the aesthetics. Read more
