These are 1/4+ inch plastic drywall anchors. Pre-drilling and then screwing into prime drywall makes for a very secure and stable foundation. They work!
The anchors looked like those I’ve used before but when I started screwing them in after drilling the pilot holes 2 of the first 3 twisted off. I was somewhat frustrated but when continuing I would turn them in the hole 1 1/2 turns then reverse for a 1/2 turn or so then turn 2 1/2 turns then back about 1/2 etc. until it was all the way in. While it took a while No more broke and they ended up being very sturdy. In the end I was even able to put metal screws in the anchors I twisted off and tighten them. These were used in a heavy metal support for a 15 lb, 1 1/2” thick by 18” wide Acadia wood floating shelf. Have one more to do and enough anchors and screws to do it. I’d buy them again as they were considerably cheaper than what I saw at Home Depot, and, although the quality looked identical, guess I’ll never know Read more
Very easy and fast to install
So first, my home was unfortunately built by a company the sounds like see bee ache. They obviously used the cheapest drywall available at the time. It's dry, thin and doesn't like any anchors, except these. They hold strong, easy to install easiest. I had a pack of these before and they're my go to here. I would use em in any instance you're installing into dry wall, but if it's thin, brittle or anchors don't seem to work, these will likely work. Cheap Quality
The anchor screws kept snapping in half when I tried to screw them into the wall. Trialed drilling a pilot hole and they still kept breaking. Read more
