I am very sensitive to smells. There could be a youth serum that promises eternal suppleness, extracted from an actual fountain of youth, but if it smells too synthetic or worse, perfume-y or sickeningly sweet, I'd just have to opt for wrinkles. So, first impression: this cleanser smells lovely. It has a very subtle citrusy scent that is only faintly detectable once you wash it off. The texture is slightly viscous and it easily wipes away makeup (including mascara), without tugging or pulling and most importantly, it doesn't sting if it gets in your eyes. I was using natural oils to remove eye makeup but I wasn't able to avoid getting it into my eyes (not comfortable), so I was really hoping for a face wash that was gentle enough to double as a makeup remover. This fits the bill perfectly, there is a gentle lather and it goes on smoothly, without requiring a lot of product and rinses off easily, without leaving your skin feeling dry or tight. I'm on the drier side and I love the way my skin feels afterward: clean and refreshed but not stripped. Because my skin tends to be dry, I don't always use a cleanser in the morning, especially in winter - I tend to just rinse with water - but I've been using Retin-A, so I need to wash in the morning, as well, and this leaves my skin feeling soft and balanced afterward - amazingly, it actually hydrated feels hydrated so that I'm not running to my moisturizer. I'm 34 years old and have struggled to find a dependable face wash for my entire life. After going through dozens and dozens of options, I started using Proactiv. It worked alright and cleared up my blemishes for the most part, but I didn't like how the harsh chemicals made my face feel. After reading some reviews I decided to try this Vitamin C face wash, and I'm glad I did. I've been using this stuff for over a year now and it's absolutely amazing. It feels light, but cleans your face thoroughly, and does so without over-drying the skin. It also has a very pleasant citrus-y smell. My complexion has never, ever looked this good. I loved the smell. A soft, citrusy orange. It wasn't too strong, smelled amazing, and only left a slight hint on my skin. On the drier parts of my face, this wash was great. Where I had acne, not so much. Light acne, it didn't do much of anything, where it was heavy it was sort of irritating. Where I have sensitive skin, nope, but most products are that way for me so I can't really fault this one. I'd use again, but am still on a search for a better wash for my combination skin type. I have been using this face wash for months now, and it is hands down the best face wash I have ever used. I have very oily, and very sensitive skin - a hard combination to cleanse properly. I have had no breakouts, and no redness after using this product. My skin literally glows and is extremely soft after washing with Joanna's Vitamin C Face Wash. I would recommend this face wash to everyone. It truly does a great job of cleaning ALL types of skin. I have tried dozens of different product lines, and Joanna's products have become my favorite. These products are so safe and natural that I even use the face wash on my 6 yr old daughter who recently started getting clogged pores around her nose - a couple weeks later her skin issues are gone!
