I loved this DVD. There are so many different tips and techniques that I think will really help my painting. I especially liked the fact that I already have most of the materials used. I am going to try the Windsor and Newton gesso. I consider myself novice to intermediate and so sometime have trouble diagnosing a problem. I hope this DVD will help. The only thing that was left out was, when is the optimal time to put in some background, whether color or something more complicated. Read more

Per the title, "Fine art of painting dog portraitS" (plural), I highly anticipated that this tutorial would teach techniques for painting many types of dogs, especially brush strokes for various fur types, among other things. I'd added this to my Christmas wish list as a top priority over other tutorial opportunities, and received it as a gift from my son. I feel it is pure arrogance to price this tutorial at $127. 3.76 hours of watching her push paint around with no clear instruction; a 47 minute interview that has no teaching value; 3 minute exhibition of her work; 11 minutes of other "teaching videos" advertising! I expected so much more REAL instruction for this price! I could have gotten 5 MONTHS of unlimited on-line instruction from Jerry Yarnell for the same amount. Do NOT waste your money!! Read more
