At $80, this is the most expensive HMD I have (the others are $15 to $23 for HMD with a phunnel), and it does not include the phunnel. But, I decided to try it. Truthfully, it is he best HMD I have ever owned. It controls heat nicely, and the heat can be adjusted during use without any fear of burning one's fingers, as the silicone coating on the top and bottom sections insulates from the heat, even with coconut coals that get real hot. Both the top and bottom handles stay cool (or just a bit warm) to the touch even while they have coals running. Compare this to my other HMDs which have the metal handle on only the top half, with a plastic insulator that transmits a lot of heat on its own. If you need to remove the HMD from the phunnel, you need to grab the bottom with tongs, which is tricky, as it is easy to drop hot coals on the floor that way. I varied between open and closed vents (never took the top off), which was medium to high heat, and my shisha burned great, with great smoke, lasting around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cleanup was easy. I let it cool, then rinsed with water and rubbed a bit with my fingers to get off anything that stuck. Then, I wiped it off with a paper towel and put it away for next time. Yes, $80 is expensive for an HMD by itself. Fortunately for me, this one fits most standard slotted phunnels (which all of mine are), so I just used a phunnel from a different HMD, and it fit well. At some point, I may invest another $50 in the Samsiris phunnel, which has the metal insert in silicone. But for now, my plain silicone one works fine. Regardless, if you can afford it, this is an excellent device to add to your hookah setup. Read more

This Hookah Heat Management device is really easy to setup, use, and clean as it comes in a 2 pieces, you can very easily manage the amount of heat that is generated from the coals within this holder. If you only have the bottom piece with coals sitting in it, it will give the lowest amount of heat (similar to normal usage when you just drop coals on top of the intake), then you can place the cover on top and adjust 2 additional settings, which are open vents and closed vents. Open Vents = all openings are open, this will allow restricted oxygen flow, allowing the coals to burn hotter and longer, additionally, you can also close the big vent holes and only utilize the small vents to restrict even more oxygen flow to maximize the amount of heat generated, this allows you to use less coals to get the same amount of heat and save a bit of money or resources when enjoying your hookah experience. It's also a nice and elegant design that has multiple uses, so it's definitely a great addition to your hookah accessories. Read more

I have a few hookahs but my pride and joy is a beautiful heavy glass piece. This heat management device was like the jewel in the crown. It looks like a showpiece now. The design is classic and not gaudy which is more my style. It comes so beautifully boxed and the quality is absolutely wonderful. I use coconut coals and this really did make it much easier to control the heat of the coals. I also feel it's so much safer than messing around with a cheap pair of metal tongs when you're dealing with hot coals. That part always made me nervous. I can't wait to show this off. It's a bit expensive but I think the price is fair for the quality craftsmanship. With proper care this should last a very long time. This device seems to distribute heat more evenly and you can control how long/hot it burns the coals. This is much like a grill in that you can control the airflow and the heat, burn time, and longevity of the coals while on your hookah. It was a snap to clean up and it is very easy to use. You simply move the lid to allow for the desired air flow and let it go. I used mine about half to three quarters open. I could have gotten more burn time out of my coal. It is hard to say as I was honestly enjoying the experience rather than monitoring the time. This is a good device for your heat management. Read more
