For a night at the ballet or your child's graduation, this is an elegant, dressy dress perfect for more formal occasions. The fabric is a very unusual but soft creation with what look and feel like shaved velvet flowers. I have no idea how they did it but I've never seen anything like it before, and it's very elegant and lovely to touch. It's not as soft on the inside (it's fine, just not extra-soft) but the outside is something I just want to pet. My measurements put me at a 6 and that's what I got, and the fit is very close, like a glove, and there's zero give in the fabric so it's hard or even impossible to raise my arms over my head like to throw a basketball. For more ordinary activities like walking, opening doors, or applauding, it's absolutely fine, but this is not a dress to move in. Don't wear it to dance in. This is a special-occasion dress that's too formal for work, but even lovelier in person than in the picture if you have need of a dressy dress. Read more

I got this in a size 8. I am between a 6US and an 8US. But I went with the larger one because I would rather it be looser on me than tighter. For reference, I am 5' and 136lbs. I could've gotten the size 6US which would fit me better at the shoulders and give me a better waistline. This hits just below my knees. A size 6 would be more modern and stop at just above my knees making me look taller. But this isn't a bad thing. I still really loved how the size 8 fit me. Allows for a food baby haha Read more

I received this Karl Lagerfeld Paris "Women's Ruffle Pearl Trim Sleeve Crepe Dress" in black. This chic little black dress has multiple features and little touches that distinguish it from the standard run-of-the-mill l-b-d: the ruffle sleeves with the pearl buttons add an elegant touch that help prevent this garment from being too plain. This would make a great choice for a black-tie wedding, an elegant dinner party, or even for a funeral or memorial service. There were a few things I disliked, though: this dry-clean only dress is 97% polyester, and the fabric is very thick and uncomfortably heavy. I really wish the material was a bit lighter and I would probably like it much more. Also, be aware that as this is a designer garment, it runs SMALL. I highly recommend sizing up, especially if you prefer your dresses to be anything other than skin tight. Four stars. Read more
