Karl Lagerfeld Womens Office Friendly Formal Skirt

The media could not be loaded. For some strange reason Amazon suggested a size S for me when I ordered this. I never order size Small! I'm so glad I ignored their recommendation and went with my usual size, XS, because even the XS is large around the waist on me. I don't know if that was just a weird fluke with their recommendations or something to be aware of when you are looking at sizing. But from my experience, I say don't size up! I am disappointed in two things: I really thought this skirt had pockets; it's one of the reasons I ordered it. I love pockets! It does not. The 2 side zippers do zip and unzip, but that's about it. They have absolutely no use. It's really silly to go through the effort to sew in functional zippers but not add pockets. Secondly, the waistband. I'm not crazy about the tacky name brand advertising in huge letters, but I thought the elastic waist would at least serve sort of as a belt and keep my shirt tucked in, something I struggle with since rarely do waists on skirts or pants fit me snuggly. I thought the XS would fit better and the waist would be more fitted. Wrong. Although i am glad the skirt itself is not tight or form-fitting, the waist is way too loose! Once again, I have a skirt that looks better with my blouse or shirt left untucked. Other than that, the fit is good. It's not too tight and the length is modest, but not overly long, even though I'm short at 5' 1". It falls several inches below the knee on me. The skirt is nice, but maybe not for an hourglass shape. If you are small or petite, but carry your weight in your waist, it may be fine. The quality is good and the material doesn't seem to pick up as much lint as a lot of other black things I have. Read more

Have never owned anything from designer KL. This is my first and based on this, won't be my last! This skirt is super comfortable and fits awesomely. What drew me at first was the non-traditional waistline, which is like a ribbon/elastic and not the usual/typical zipper closer. It makes putting on and off a snap. The style is on point and this skirt can be worn with a myriad of shirts/sweaters/blouses. It has two pockets on either side of the hips which adds a knack of utility/usefulness. This is a very functional addition to my wardrobe which I can wear to work (office attire) or can be dressed down for business casual. Material is good for any type of season and the thickness is perfect, not too heavy and too see through/flimsy. Length on me (I am 5'2") was just ever so slightly past the knees. Cannot wait to pair this skirt with a sweater and boots or a blouse and jacket..... possibilities are endless. Read more

I really this Karl Lagerfeld mid-length skirt. It’s extremely well made, with quality seam stitching, even though it doesn’t have a liner. The fabric is a good thickness to wear year-round but I’ve been pairing it with tights during colder months. I actually feel more comfortable in an unlined, less thick skirt though. If you want something very structured, this isn't the one...it's more stretchy. For me, the length hits right below the knee, and the classic style fits nicely without feeling too snug. The stretch in the fabric makes it super comfortable, and it’s quickly become one of my go-to wardrobe pieces because it pairs with almost anything. It does wrinkle a bit, so needs steaming after washing but it's definitely a stylish, mix-and-match skirt I'm getting a lot of wear out of for work days. The price is a bit high for an unlined skirt though. Read more

This is a quality piece and is very well-made. It is a unique design with the Lagerfield logo on the waistband. I also like the zippered accent on each side of the skirt. Another nice feature of the skirt is that the material has a little stretch to it. It is also true to size and very comfortable. I ordered the medium and it fit to a tee. I do feel that the piece is a bit pricey. I could find other pencil skirts for more of a value. Read more

Even though this skirt does not have a lining you can tell it's high quality brand name. First of all the sizing is generous. I'm not super thin and I get used to ordering a size large to be comfortable and its a bit big. I think because it has an elastic waist, That helps it to be nicely fitting. The waist looks like it's not elastic. There is nice details on this skirt. It's thinner so it's pretty flattering and I think could be worn as your basic black skirt but in warmer climates or paired with nice tights or leggings in a cold climate. It has a nice length just at or below the knee depending on how long your legs are. You could easily wear a cropped top or a blouse tucked in with this skirt. I recommend this for professional wear that is not uncomfortable like it usually is. Read more

This is a well-made black skirt, exactly as described. All seams are well produced and there is no stray cotton anywhere. The waist band is elasticated which helps with the fit and to keep the skirt comfortable all day long. We correctly judged to order up one size to a 'large' fit for this skirt. Being black, it matches with any color blouse. A lot of trouble has been taken to sew two zippered 'pockets' into place which extend for an unnecessary length inside the skirt, yet they don't serve as pockets, only for decoration. I am a size 12/14 and got this in a large. it fits very nicely. Will look good for an interview or a dressy night out. Elastic waistband is a bit different as you don't usually see them on a skirt. Read more
