Programmed in less than 60 seconds. Not sure on range but really how far do you need to be. I never had one when I bought my 04 ranger and was worried it wouldn't work. Glad I took the chance. Sit in seat driver door closed then open driver door push unlock button on door and insert the key. Cycle ignition from off to on 8 times in 8 seconds ending in the on position locks will cycle push any button on the fob then locks will cycle and if you do 2 fobs after lock cycles push any button on the other fob locks will cycle then turn off the ignition and test the fob.
