A high quality USB hub

HannesSJanuary 5, 2026

This review is for the ten-port version of this USB hub. Other versions with fewer ports are also available if you don't have a need to service 10 USB devices simultaneously. I really like this USB hub but there is also one design decision I am not as thrilled with. First, it seems to be a very sturdy device in an all-metal chassis. The package includes various mounting hardware, a connector for using the optional 7V to 30V power connector rather than the barrel connector if you prefer, the AC adapter with power cord, and a USB cable for connection to your computer. The hub is designed in such a way that all connectors are located on the front of the device with the exception of the 7V to 30V power connector. This includes the connection to the computer, the barrel jack power connector, and all ten of the USB ports. This is the one design decision that I don't like so much personally. I prefer to have the power connector and connection back to the computer on the rear panel as I find the cables sticking off the front panel to get in my way. However, bear in mind that this HUB is mainly intended for use in an industrial setting where having all the connectors on one side might make the most sense for ease of access and where cables will not be getting in the way because the hub is not likely to be sitting right on someone's desktop. I really like the fact that every port has its own status LED to indicate that the device is being seen and is connected. Even the USB connection back to the PC has its own status LED to show when a reliable connection is established with the computer. I noticed that the status light for the individual USB ports turns off after a short period of inactivity but as soon as access to the device is initiated, that light comes back on again. This makes it easy to see what devices are active and which are idle, which can make life a lot easier when multiple devices are connected. I thought that this was a very nice touch because it can prevent you from accidentally unplugging an active device. In my testing, I got consistently excellent performance. My SSDs and high-speed flash drives all worked at full speed and never slowed down even with huge, lengthy file transfers. I also tested with a scanner, a printer, a video capture device, a phone, a tablet, and a portable fan and table lamp that use USB for charging. Every device worked flawlessly with this hub. The hub ran consistently cool, never getting hot. In fact, I could really not tell if it even got above room temperature. This indicates to me that the hub is not drawing excessive power and that it should run reliably for a long time. I performed most of my testing with a USB-A type connection to a PC, but I also attached a USB-A to USB-C adapter so that I could test with a USB-C port on my computer and that also worked flawlessly. Please note that a USB-A to USB-C adapter is not provided in the package. You will need to supply one if you want to use this hub with a USB-C port on your computer. If I had to sum up this hub in a single word, that word would be "reliability". I have noticed that with a lot of consumer grade USB hubs, I get mixed results, with some working better than others. As a piece of industrial equipment, this just seems to me to be a better-quality device. It is most certainly not the least expensive USB hub out there, but I feel like this hub is still a great value for a piece of solid and reliable gear and I find it to be a very worthwhile investment. Compact, durable, and responsive USB hub - flexible mounting - slightly out-of-date USB format.

influencerJanuary 2, 2026

This has been a godsend for my desk organization, simplifying my mess of various unpowered usb hubs and adaptors. It is low profile, allowing me to mount it under my desk shelf without getting in the way of anything, and has a light but sturdy feeling metal enclosure. I would have preferred the power and output port to be on the back instead of the front to lesson the amount of cables in the front, and prevent me accidentally unplugging the power, but it probably makes more sense for certain applications. I may eventually switch to the power terminal on the side, which requires some simple wiring. I’ve always had annoying connectivity issues with unpowered hubs, like having to plug and unplug them back in when using a USB-A to C adapter, or hard drives acting up when multiple are attached. And since these hubs didn’t have any mounting built in, I would use velcro to mount them on my desk, and the backside of the velcro would eventually come off. This solves those issues. I’ve run multiple backups simultaneously through MacOs Time Machine and SuperDuper!, while also connecting a RGB keyboard and mouse, Blu-ray drive, and audio interface, issue free. Through Logic Pro, my Steinberg ur44 audio interface reads 7.2ms roundtrip latency in the settings menu, which is exactly what it reads when connected to my Mac without a hub, though I’m not sure this accounts for any latency caused by hubs. It was well packaged, and the included mounting hardware is thorough, with a DIN mount as well as smaller L shaped flush mounts (with anchors for softer surfaces), which are what I used. All screws and bolts are included. There is a light next to each USB port indicating if the device is currently connected, which is useful for determining if a device is not connecting for some reason. The light bleeds into the nearby ports a little bit but it’s still intelligible. My only gripe Is that it’s USB 3.0 and has the older style USB Type-B output. Maybe using a more ‘proven’ tech is better for industrial uses, but I would have preferred a USB-C version 3.2 output, or at least an included cable with a USB-C end so I could plug it directly into my MacBook without an adapter/non-standard cable. Maybe that’s a disappointment for the $75 the 10-port version currently costs, but I do feel like I’m getting value from the build quality. Read more

Little metal mountable powerhouse

CantanopyFebruary 3, 2026

I guess there is one big rule: you cannot have enough USB ports. And that rule goes for me as well. This is a little powerhouse (10-port version) that would especially work well if you mount it. This is not a USB hub specifically designed to sit on your desk and look good. Oh, it works fine that way - it does for me - but it is specifically designed to be mounted, with the power connector plugger at the front, not on the opposite side of the ports, as on-desk hubs often have for aesthetics. This layout works especially well when the hub is mounted in a rack, or even on the computer itself when mounted against the wall. Connectors for mounting this hub are included. The housing is made of metal. It feels really sturdy and well-made. The performance is as expected from a powered USB 3.0 hub. It is highly recommended to directly plug the hub into an available USB 3.0 port on your computer. It will work fine when you loop it through an already existing hub, but there is a slight loss of data stream. Even though most regular users will not notice this, if you use this USB hub for high-speed data connections, it is recommended that you connect it directly to your computer. This is nothing new to tech-savvy people, but I thought I'd mention it here. Read more
