I bought this to go with my tilt head mixer, oopsie! It came almost overnight and I found I had ordered the wrong one. I loved it so much I decided to keep it as a batter bowl for pancakes and large batches of bread dough so I can watch it rise. It's a great bowl and heavy enough to not roll away when kneading by hand. I dount if it will chip like a ceramic bowl either and can be warmed easily. I love it. Read more

This extra mixing bowl is so wonderful- my only regret is that I didn’t buy it sooner. I’m on my 2nd artisan mixer and I really could’ve used this sooner. It’s wonderful to be able to microwave in the bowl to melt butter and to be able to seal the lid and refrigerate for frosting and other baking. It works seamlessly with my mixer - so easy and is incredibly thick glass, heavy, and very well made. Popping it in the dishwasher when I’m done baking makes it a dream! Read more

This is a solid sucker! I kept hesitating about ordering the KA version of this bowl, but I finally got it. It's really well packed (factory packing) and arrived save and sound. It's pretty heavy itself, but because of that it's sturdy. I have an enameled cast iron sink, and so far the occasional bumps that occur while washing are no issue. I'm sure if I dropped it on my tile floor it may well break, but it's pretty darned durable so far. I've got the 4.5qt KA Artisan, and this fits well. It fits a bit more snugly than the 4.5 steel bowls, but now I've gotten used to where to place it, it's easy to secure. Ten or more minutes of kneading bread snugs the bowl down pretty tightly, but a firm bump to the handle does loosen the bowl. (you'll have to play a bit to get how much force you need to use, but on the fourth use, it's all good now). So far I've just washed it by hand because my dishwasher wasn't near full yet, but a friend puts it in her dishwasher regularly and it comes out sparkling. I only handwash the lid (it does get bendy with very hot water), but it's easy enough even when you accidentally let a bit of bread dough residue dry on it. It's a good size to mix a single one pound/500g loaf and let it rise with the lid on. A greater quality of dough would need a separate rising container. I was really upset when my bowl fell and broke - so I ordered this one and was pleasantly surprised to see it's even better than the one I had. I loved the lid option - especially for those cookie recipes that require you to chill before scooping and baking. I love how the bowl seems better in some way I can't explain it. Great for catching juice from my Nama slow press juicer. Unfortunately I dinged the bottom and it cracked in a semicircle around the bottom. Be careful if you use this outside of a KitchenAid mixer! Read more

Never depend on Amazon to deliver items on time. I received this late (as usual). Fortunately it arrived without being damaged. The box was dented and the bottom was not secured - fortunately, as I was picking it up, I felt the box open and reinforced it with my hand before it fell onto the concrete. I received the Kitchenaid tilt-head 5 quart glass bowl as a gift. It fits better than the bowl that came with the machine. The paddle and wisk accessories reach closer to the bottom & the sides of this bowl. Its beautiful addition to my kitchen arsenal. I have carpal tunnel and was worried about the weight but no issues so far. I've only had for a few days but I have used it about 10 times. I cannot yet confirm durability.
