Great tool—no moving part! Felt a hankering for Swiss steak, but it’s best made with a cheap, tough piece of meat. Looked in my kitchen for a tenderizer that I haven’t used in years, but in one of my decluttering fits, I must have given to a thrift shop. No problem! Amazon to the rescue! This was discounted to nearly single digit(s). Two day delivery! Went to the supermarket this afternoon and picked up a cheap roast. On the way home, I checked my mailbox and there was my tenderizer. It’s not complex. It’s just the right weight with a smooth surface and a knobbed surface. It’s fun to use and it makes quick work of those tough cuts. Glad I got it. It's a mallet! Yes, folks, it's a beater on a stick. Nice & durable. The grip feels nice. Goes through the dishwasher just fine. It's pretty big, and it's definitely got some heft to it--perfect for recalcitrant chickens. The texture on the tenderizer side is not too spiky, not too dull. It's well made. It's straightforward to use. The handle is comfortable and to grasp (good grip) and I'm not afraid of it slipping out of my hand. It's easy to clean. In hindsight, I wish I'd purchased a heavier tenderizer as to minimize the number of times and the force necessary to actually pound chicken breasts thinner. Read more
