First off to answer my own question YES the USB port is removeable. Its built solid with good zippers and carry handles and plenty of space for every tool in my arsenal and then some and there's still space in it. It doesn't fall over when unzipped or placed on the ground. Only down side I personally have to mention is the straps can eat into you if you have to carry your tools over a wide area but if you don't totally load it down like I do you should be alright.
