The wood block is pretty nice. It has some kind of coating on it that almost feels like rubber, which would definitely make it easier to clean. The scissor seem ok, they just do not appear to be as sturdy, or as robust, as other scissors that have come with knife sets that I have bought in the past .The individual steak knives seem to be made fairly well and feel comfortable in your hand. The steak knife handles have a really nice feel to them when you grip it. One of the bigger knives is not much bigger than a steak knife, and actually is designed similar, so there might be a little confusion initially about, which is which. I like the fact that all the knives are packaged with a plastic safety tip on them. It helps keep them from poking through the packaging, and also from accidentally getting yourself, stuck or cut. I definitely like the idea of there being a sharpener built-into the knife holding block. It appears to be made of some ceramic rods, but I’m not 100% sure. There are no instructions on, or in, the box to let you know the proper care for these knives, or which knives are supposed to be used for what purpose. However, the types of knives are shown and listed on the Amazon product description website. I assume it is not that complicated to take care of these knives, but you never know. I am not sure how I feel about the blades being black like the handles. It might just be a me thing, because I am used to cutlery that has a silver blade, so it may just take some time getting used to them. The wooden block has some chips on it, so I am concerned whether or not it might get worse. It also looks like it has some scratches. All of the cutlery seemed to do really well in the dishwasher. I will admit that I wasn't expecting much when I'd ordered this. It was meant to be a gift for my cousin who's getting ready to move into her first place, so we've been getting some small essentials gathered together for housewarming presents. I'd say this knife block matches what you'd expect for someones first set. It has a nice variety of knives. The block itself is very weighty, so it getting moved/bumped accidentally isn't a real concern. The color nice for a modern esthetic.
