These don't compare to premium branded knives like Wusthof or Henckels, but for less than the price of a single one of those knives, you could get (or gift) a whole set. The knives feel good (if somewhat light) in the hand with a very good balance and grip. The handles feel a little "soft" but are slip proof even with wet hands. Extremely sharp, but somewhat thin blades that won't stand up to rough use or excessive sharpening. The best parts of the set are the serrated bread knife, which is perfectly sized and cuts beautifully, and the shears. These kitchen shears are a great all-purpose tool for the household and this pair works as well snipping parchment paper as boning a chicken. The flaw is the knife block. It isn't a block, it's a hollow plastic box that is slightly top heavy when the knives are all in it. The sharpener is two recessed whetstone rods that requires both hands to use, employs a dangerous upward motion, and if done at incorrect angles could actually dull your knives instead of sharpening them. Neither the bread knife nor the shears can be sharpened in this device. The thought is good, but the execution is lacking and potentially unsafe. But, the knives themselves are actually pretty good and very easy to keep clean, making this a decent choice for a starter set or dorm gift. Read more

This knife set arrived quickly in great packaging. The knives were individually wrapped with protective guards in their own box. Unfortunately, the scissors were not the same color as the rest of the set. The set is more of a vanilla color while the scissors are grey. Also, the knives don't feel as sturdy as I was hoping. When I attempt to bend them, they do have some flex to them. It is worthy to note that they are thicker and sturdier than other off-brand sets. They arrive pretty sharp - I was able to cut through one of the cardboard covers with them. I really like the fact the block has a built in sharpener. It makes it a lot easier to sharpen the knives without having to hunt through my drawer for my sharpener. Also, while the handles have a nice grip to them, they feel hollow/too light. Overall, I am happy with the set as an upgrade to my current one. It's not name-brand quality, but it's decent quality. I'd recommend these for at home use - not for professional chefs.
