After getting my first dear since college last year, I realized I did not have a knife that was good for field dressing or skinning an animal and thus went on a year long search for a knife that would fit the bill. After paying what I felt was a fair price for the cub bear/Elk hunter combo I recieved it in just 4 days after purchase. Both knives look great and feel good in hand. The thing that I was most impressed with was the flawlessly exicuted leather sheath. The sheath I received had snap closures for both knives and is a work of art. I only have two very minor complaints that keep this from being a 5 star product one of which is personal preference and the other is purely cosmetic. The first is that the snap closures on the sheath are plastic. Now I know that this does not have anything to do with the sheathes effectiveness, it would just have been a nice final touch on an otherwise fantastic traditional hunting knife. The other complaint is that the fit and finish on the black no slip handle scales left a little to be desired. The brass pins were a little sunk in and the pattern on the cub bear almost looked melted a tad bit. However, none of this effects the feel of the knives in hand. I used the cub bear this weekend to dress a squirel and it worked fantastic, and I fully expect the elk hunter to preform the same on bigger game. Final comment, both knives come razor sharp. In closing I'm happy with the purchase and would whole heartedly recommend this set to anyone who is looking for a new hunting knife.
