At a glance: So far the batteries are great, were easy to install, and have breathed new life into my dying PS5 controllers. I plan to update this review after a year since I know my biggest concern was with longevity and no one else has seemed to comment on that. I'm a month in with no issues. Why I replaced my batteries: I've had the PS5 since it came out and my controller batteries have degraded so bad they would die within an hour or two, even while watching a show. My options were to buy replacement batteries or new controllers. I was split between something more tested like iFixit's replacement battery and something cheaper like these. Since I had two controllers to do I decided on these and at $8 a piece its really hard to turn down. I would NOT replace your batteries if you are not experience degradation, if you are looking to just increase your capacity this product is not for you. Installation: While this kit technically comes with everything you need to install I would HIGHLY recommend getting a plastic spudger. I bought the "iFixit Prying and Opening Tool Assortment" ($10) along with this and I really wouldn't have wanted to do the installation without that. Other than that it was quick (15-20 minutes) and very easy. The battery fits in perfectly snug (see pics) and I would recommend NOT using the adhesive as there is simply no need for it and if you ever replace the batteries again that'll be a pain to clean up. The batteries themselves are very comparable in size to the original both physically and capacity wise. They are 2400 mAh which is slightly larger than the originals and so far they will last me all day on a single charge or all week if I only play a couple hours a day. All of the original controller functionality seems to be intact and I haven't noticed any bloating or extra heat. The only question that remains is how long they will last but at $8 a piece this was a no brainer for me. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Price was good for 8000mah batteries, kit overall is good quality. The batteries seemed charged out of the box, as soon as i connected seemed to charge up fast. Instructions overall is good but i wish it explained step one better. Basically, pry the ends of eqch handle (the black part)with blue pick or finger nails. From the very end of that blck piece its easy to pry up as the black plastic is thin. Do both sodes and gradually pull up till the whole plastic piece can be removed over the joysticks. Then there are 4 mini screws, the L1 and R1 buttons snap off with pick by holding R2 or L2down wedging pick between L2and L1 and just lever ot till the bitton pops off the small screw is hidden under there and at the bottom of the two handle ends making a total of 4 screws. Then you will see two small flaps near the front charge ports between the two joysticks, pull up on those just a little to get the whote plastic pieces to separate then use the pick to open up the two sides. The battery just flops out and the red wire is closer to the bottom but easy as the plug should go on one way. These batteries arent perfectly rectangular so they have a sticky back side to hold them in place. After i figured out the first one the second one took a few minutes max. Amazing batteries. The packaging included the tools necessary for installation. Installation was easy with the included instructions. Capacity rating was exactly as advertised, and the battery comes built with an actual thermistor for safety. I'm very confident these batteries will last a long time, the improvement over OEM was instantly noticeable. Definitely recommended! Read more
Very happy with my purchase, so far so good with having a longer battery life. Also, I appreciated all the tools being needed to change out the battery were included. Battery replacement was fairly easy and the pack included some basic instructions. Overall I would definitely recommend this product for those in need of a new PS5 controller battery. Read more
