Two use graphite shafts, and the putter has a steel shaft. They feel well balanced and light enough for a young child. While it's impossible for an adult to truly speak to the swing and feel of these in a reasonable way, a cursory look at the weight, rigidity, and the quality feel of the grips makes it clear that these are not low-grade products. They feel balanced and durable, rather than like "toy" clubs. It is important to keep in mind that the ages 3–5 set includes three clubs, but for a beginning golfer, that is often more than enough. In fact, three clubs can sometimes be two too many choices for a toddler, so this set is plenty to get them started.
