I use this as a porch light. It's by no means bright, but just light enough not to stumble, be able to find keys, deter snoopers, etc. I just leave the light switched to the ON position. This comes on at dusk, goes off at dawn. Perfect. I think it might be a bit bright for a bedroom - but fortunately it's adjustable. You CAN dim it down. The light quality is nice too.
