This is the best and backs up my computer in no time. I got a 2 TB size one which I know will always be more than enough for my home MAC computer laptop. Read more
So far so good! Super easy to use and compatible on a MacBook Pro. The orange cover is also great for protection. Big enough not to lose but small enough for convenience. Love this!!! Read more

Setting up the LaCie was easy and fast. Highly recommend Read more
I really like these LaCie rugged hard drives. The design is solid, the rubber bumper feels protective, and it’s quick when transferring files. I’ve been using mine mainly for backups and archiving, and I already plan to buy more. While it’s not the most portable external drive on the market, it’s still small enough for my needs. I take it in my backpack while traveling and it holds up great. The rugged design isn’t just for looks it’s functional. One thing I wish is that it had a USB-C port on the drive itself. The cable included has USB-C on one end, but the actual port on the drive is Micro-B USB 3.0. It works fine, but I don’t love the wide connector design, and it doesn’t feel as durable or modern as USB-C. Hopefully newer versions fix this. In terms of compatibility, I did run into an issue when using the default format. I initially had it set to ExFAT for cross-platform use, but on my MacBook it caused a frustrating issue where the drive would not eject properly it would stay stuck in the “ejecting” state forever. Once I reformatted it to a Mac-native format (APFS in my case), the problem disappeared completely. So just a heads-up for Mac users: reformat the drive to avoid this problem. As for data loss, I’ve had zero issues. I’ve done heavy backups and constant use without a single corrupted file or problem. On heat, it runs surprisingly cool. Even after transferring large amounts of data, it only gets slightly warm—nothing unusual or concerning. Lastly, I love how this drive looks. The classic LaCie orange bumper gives it character, and it fits perfectly with the clean, modern setup I’m going for. Overall, it’s a great external drive for people who want a balance of performance, durability, and style. Just keep in mind the older port design and formatting needs, depending on your system Read more

GREAT DANE PROOF! these hard drives may be the toughest hard drives around. if you have kids or dogs like me I highly recommend them. I came home one day to my Great Dane puppy throwing one of these up in the air in my back yard and and trying to catch it. he had pulled the cord out and chewed entirely around the sides of it. all while doing this in the dirt pit in the middle of my yard.( my fault I left the hard drive on a table next to my couch.) well fast forward to a year and a half later and I still am able to use this hard drive as normal. I recommend them all day. transfer speeds are good. rubber case is durable. and no issues with compatibility for my Mac. Read more

It is not possible to provide this product a 0 rating. Customer - beware of relying important or any data into these devices. I purchased mine January of this year (10 months ago); and used it a total of 4 times to backup (for redundancy) upwards of 1.5 TB of data into it, to be specific - photography work. In my most recent backup exercise, at the moment of plugging it to my computer, the LaCie Drive was no longer recognized. This could be for several reasons, and not an uncommon situation- so, I troubleshooted in several ways: Change Cable/ Computer Port, Searched via Disk Utility, via Dedicated Software, even Using Terminal Commands (Macbook)--- all recommended approaches by the Seagate/LaCie support (on their official webpage), and also recommended by the product's Amazon support page. None of these worked; so I took the product for service/evaluation, and I was indicated that the issue had nothing to do with faulty connection ( ex: perhaps the port was damaged) ; but rather a disk issue, hence I am no longer able to access my data - unless I go to a professional data recovery service. Now, one might believe that this is due to human error , or that I most have carelessly unplugged it with a hammer -- but: I make sure to be careful when loading/unloading any HHD/SSD's, and store them in a refrigerated space, this one** wasn't dropped or tossed in any way, and I have used multiple drives across years due to work to KNOW BETTER. I want to highlight that I used it few times, just loaded data into it in large batches, no fancy operations or strain on the device; again- no impact/ falls or pressure was exerted on it. This was my first and last LaCie device; after this experience I cannot* trust on this devices, remember to back up your data right now. Read more
