This LAPGEAR MyStyle portable lap desk is great when I want a flat surface while sitting in bed or relaxing on the couch. It fits my MacBook well and gives me a stable space to work, write emails, or browse without balancing a laptop on a blanket. The cushion underneath is soft and feels almost like a small beanbag, which helps it sit comfortably on your lap. It also feels sturdy enough for normal use as long as you’re not constantly shifting around. There isn’t anything to adjust on it, but that’s kind of the point. It’s meant to be a simple lap desk that you can just place on your lap and start using. As for the mouse area, I personally just use my trackpad, so it hasn’t been an issue for me. There is a thin plastic type layer that is the top protective surface, and its been peeling up since I first open the box. This is unfortunate, I haven't needed to wash it yet, but that is likely to make the situation worse. Otherwise this is a great lap desk, comfortable and useful, on my lap and as a flat surface when laying down. Read more

Exactly what I was looking for. I work full time, and I'm in grad school, and I found that after sitting at a desk all day at the office I was reluctant to sit at my home desk in the evenings to do schoolwork. This lap desk allows me to comfortably use my laptop in the living room in my favorite chair - game changer! I got the space odyssey design and it's so cute. This lap desk has the specific feature I was looking for: no "ledge" at the bottom. I just wanted a flat surface so I can position my laptop as close to me as I need, and at whatever angle I need, without a ledge getting in the way. The bottom is set up with two separate "channels" of cushioning which I like - I think if it were one big "bean bag" you would have to constantly adjust the filling, but here you don't. When it first arrived I thought it looked too flat and was afraid it wouldn't have enough of an angle, but once I sat in my chair and got it set up I realized it was perfect. I needed a small lap desk for the bedroom for when I'm writing in bed. I use a paper tablet called the Remarkable 2, and I sometimes sit in bed to write at night. This product exceeded my expectations. First off, the lap part uses tiny beads or beans, so it does contour to my legs well without being too hot. It features two rows of these, so there's a lot of space for airflow. Second, there is a handle on the front for easy carrying. I can carry it with the handle while holding my phone and my tablet without worrying I will drop everything. Third, the front lap piece has a lot of space so I can clip my book light to the desk instead of having to clip it to the Remarkable. One thing-it's glossy and shiny, so it might look like things slide on it. They don't. My tablet does not slide around on it. Neither does my laptop. It's very well-made, and I'm very happy with it. It's also attractive and kind of girlie, so I don't have to worry about my husband Bogarting it. Read more
