I never write reviews but felt this one was worthy of my time. I have been a Vera Bradley backpack user because of the lightweight but durable fabric and all of the many pockets and compartments they have. After 5+ years of daily use, finally had to get a new one but the VB prices are ridiculous, even if they do last a long time. So I started searching for an alternative. After pages and pages of options, I found this one that seemed to offer everything the VB one did. While being one of the higher priced options, it was still less than half the cost of VB, so I ordered both for comparison. Let me tell you, this bag delivered! Actually has more pockets than the VB and the material is even lighter than the signature quilted cotton of VB and waterproof! I will have to see over time if it holds up as well. Time will tell. But for half the price, this is a winner! My only wish is that the 2 front compartments had a dual-open zipper like the large compartment and laptop pocket. I like the flexibility of opening it from either direction, but that is a small negative on an otherwise great bag! 100% recommend this backpack! So long VB!! Read more

I used this on a long trip recently and it worked out perfectly! It went through rain and heat and was very comfortable to wear, and everything inside was dry. It fit everything I had and was a great personal item for under the plane seat. The laptop compartment fits my 16" MacBook Pro comfortably, and the backpack itself is very comfortable to wear. The straps adjust and son't wiggle out of place. I like that one of the side pockets zips closed, but I wish the water bottle pocket was on the right when wearing it instead of the left. I got this for my first year of teaching, knowing I would be lugging some things back and forth. It is a good size and seems to be well made and so far it has worn very well, being used every day. The zippers for the two main sections do open easily, which is good in some ways and bad in others. I wish the to smaller sections had two zippers instead of just one, the same way the main sections do. There is a zippered slash pocket on the front which is handy for my phone, and it does have one water bottle pocket in the side. There is a pocket on the other side as well, though it is kind of an awkward shape with the zipper ending in a weird spot. I wish there were a bit more structure to it, but that would likely make it a fair bit heavier, and one of the nice things about it is how lightweight it is. Really great backpack for every day use. I went on a day trip and took my real hiking backpack, and took this too just in case. By the time I got where I was going- I realized my heavy duty one was way to heavy even before I put stuff in it, so I transferred everything to this and saved my back some hassle. Highly recommend- especially for women who want backpacks but suffer with back, neck problems or headache due to over-heavy purses, backpacks etc. Not to mention, the paisley one we got was really cute and goes with lots of colors!
