This is the second electric lighter I buy. I'm outfitting a daypack and assembling the necessary gear to mirror my deep hiking backpack. I've found that electric lighters are more dependable than the "Bic" lighters as they don't blow out with wind, work in wet conditions, and you don't have to worry about them being warm since the flame ones have a lot of trouble lighting when its near freezing. My other Plasma works great so I went to this company to buy it as this model is sold by several Chinese companies. The quality is good. It's robust and comes fully charged. I like the little gooseneck on this one so you can get it deep into the tinder bundle which makes lighting more dependable. I foresee no issues with this one and is EXACLY the same as the other one I have except for the extendable gooseneck. Good value, great technology. Keep your other lighter as a backup, but you'll find these are exceptional. The thing works great. Bought it to light a cigarette on the motorcycle on long trips. It will light a smoke going 90mph. I do not like where the charging port is. The lighter lid must be open to charge. Can’t charge it on the bike because the ignite button might get pushed while turning and catch the bike on fire. Read more

We gave this as a birthday gift. It was probably lighted a couple hundred times in the first two days - it was tested on everything imaginable, including a gummy worm. The extension is a very nice feature. The flashlight is pretty bright. FYI, the bubble package from Amazon smells like birthday candles after they get blown out. If you try to blow out the plasma arc it smells like electricity but it stays lit even if you blow as hard as you can. I think I got promoted to the best brother-in-law ever. Read more

This is a very cool little gadget. It's light-weight, thin, sturdy, and versatile. The lid locks in place well, so it won't open in the pocket. I like the expandable, bendable neck - good for reaching tinder in a campfire and the occasional candle for the wife. It's not a dual arc lighter, but works just fine. It has a level indicator, so I know how charged it is. It charges fairly quickly with the decent, included cord and gives plenty of lights before needing a recharge. I like that it has a built-in flashlight with a decently-bright light (not sure of the lumens) - not some ultra-torch, but bright enough to light up the immediate area.
