I’m not sure about the camping application, but this is fantastic for automotive work. The size is small, but not so small that it falls down cracks and through gaps. It has a strong magnet so can be attached to anything ferrous. It also has a threaded mount so could be attached to a tripod although this is so portable and convenient that it seems unlikely you would use it this way. Takes no extra space and probably adds only pennies to the cost so I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the manufacturer though. It clearly shows that they thought this one full through. It is rechargeable via USB-C and arrived fully charged (as I said, they are thoughtful). A frosted dome means that light is not harsh but WOW is this thing bright. I recently had do do a clutch petal adjustment. It is an in an extremely awkward position up under the dashboard of the car. The space is dark, cramped, and you’re working upside down. Cords would have gotten in the way and you needed to be able to see what you’re doing. Take a look at the before/after pictures when using this light. Yes, the position was still awkward, but lighting was NOT an issue. It was like daylight in there. I’ve tried a lot of products in the past few months, but this is absolutely one of the most useful. Phenomenal bang for your buck. One last note, it does have adjustable color temperature. I suppose if you were going to use this for camping, it does create a much less harsh/bright light to adjust the color temperature down. For my particular application, not especially useful. But they did truly think of nearly everything. This is a great addition to anyone’s tool box, emergency kit (roadside or home…it would be great in a power failure), or camping supplies. Read more
This is fairly bright and seems to last a while, I turned it on for about an hour and battery meter didn't go down at all. It has 4 colors a bright white, a warm white, a second bright white that seems identical to the first bright white and a red light and finally a flashing red light. The red light would be great for camping because red light doesn't kill your night vision. There is no dimmer but it has both USB and USB C charging ports along with a battery meter of 4 small green lights to show how much charge is left. I like the hanger, but the magnet is not strong enough to hold this on a vertical surface. This is an awesome light! It is super bright!! It is big and very useful for many things other than camping. My teenager likes to use it while taking pictures and videos. My four year old likes to hang it on his tent with the red light on. It looks awesome! Very useful Read more
Love this light. I have it hanging in the center of my living room to test it. This light give better light in that room than the one that runs on electricity with a new bulb in it. The light is awesome on all levels with the exception of the flash mode where it is supposed to send sos. Mine sends sss. The magnet is strong when connected to the small metal plate they supply to attach to your wall however it will not stay in place when just attached to a metal appliance like a fridge or dishwasher. This bothers me because you can't rip the metal piece off the wall or where ever you choose to attach it to take it with you if you are going on a trip. For a portable item that is magnetized they really need to supply multiple metal plates so you can keep one in your home, one in your tent or rv and one for inside your vehicle for those that use their vehicle to stay in when camping. Other than these two issues it works on all the other modes. You can attach it to a tri pod, hang it up or use the magnet if you can get it to stay in place. We tent camp a lot and as such lights like these are very handy. I purchased a very similar item not long ago for backpacking, and while it’s a decent light, the battery doesn’t last as long as I’d like and it doesn’t charge all of our gadgets (like our watches). This light, right out of the box, seems to be better quality, is brighter and has more functions. As someone who likes to do astrophotography, the added red light is a cool bonus! It has a built in magnetic mount (even comes with adhesive metal plates to create a place to mount it if needed) and a built in hook. I can’t speak to the battery life just yet but I’ll edit this review if it falls short. The only thing that surprised me about the light is how warm it gets on the bright settings. But it has a metal back plate that I assume is a heat sink. Not really an issue, just a note. Read more
Flashing SOS mode is a red light. This is good for being an emergency light, as red light cuts thru darkness better- BUT product display shows it being a white light. We intended to use that mode as a "strobe" for camping games. So it won't work for my intended use. Otherwise works as intended. Light is bright. A little finnicky to adjust, as you hold/press to dim or brighten. Holds a charge well, and charges fairly quickly. Came with multiple mounting options. Read more
This is a super duper bright camping lantern. Unfortunately, it's somewhat ruined by badly thought out engineering. The only way to change between the light settings on this is by pressing the button repeatedly to cycle through them. And the red night lighting is at the end of that cycle. The only way to access the red light is by first turning it on to full blinding brightness. This makes the red light functionally useless. Read more
