Pretty freakin cool. Don’t know if it’s worth the price but an awesome build. Only thing that sucks is if I had ordered through the LEGO store, I could have gotten an extra vehicle for free. Amazon charges almost $200 for the extra vehicle. Total BS Read more
It made the perfect gift. Thank you. Read more
Just got mine. So excited to put this one together. The Death Star is a classic and an absolutely fantastic piece! Read more
FRAUD!! This is a fake. The box is a real LEGO box but the pieces inside are not real LEGO, nor are they pieces that would make up this set. There is also no instruction manual. This is fraud. Read more
Just BEAUTIFUL !!! So much detail... It will take my 10 yr old son a month to finish it. 100% worth the money if you are a die-heart fan of Star Wars. Read more
Our family has put together many LEGO and non-LEGO sets over the years. This is a huge and very involved set. The largest one we had done before this Death Star was a forest cabin, which was about 2000 pieces and took weeks to assemble. This Death Star Ultimate Collector's Edition is over 9000 pieces, including more than 2 dozen minifigs. The set came double-boxed with lots of protective packaging, which was important because it was delivered on a rainy day. The only thing keeping it from pristine condition was a couple of scuffs on the bottom of the box (see pics). The box otherwise had no damage - no dents, no bent corners, and was sealed as expected. It is a Huge box - nearly 2 feet tall and quite heavy. You can literally fit a child inside the box. No handles on the box to easily move it, though. I'm not going to comment on the price. This is a collector's edition set, and its affordability is really relative to the buyer's income and life priorities. The set is subdivided into 3 inner boxes. The bags and instruction manuals are all (thankfully) sequentially numbered. Box 1 = bags 1-26 (you don't work on bag 26 until instruction manual 3 in box 2); Box 2 = 27 - 53 (instruction manual 4 also includes opening bag 54); Box 3 is bags 54 - 81. The Minifigs were distributed throughout the bags and boxes. All the stickers were in box 1. Each instruction manual was wrapped in a decorative paper protective bag, and comes with front matter reading material explaining the significance of those portions of the Death Star you are currently building to the movies and overall Lore. Each stage of unboxing had fun, new art for a really nice unboxing experience. It's obvious that lots of thought and planning went into every step of this set. Inner and outer boxes were also designed to be folded and stored without damage. Pictures show the contents of box 1 vs. the contents of the entire set. It's really a crazy amount of LEGOs, to be honest, when you see it all together. Complexity is about average for any LEGO set. Instructions are very clear and effective. I think if you were working on this as a family with a couple of kids, you could complete a box every day or two. There are a lot of interactive parts, making it more of a toy than just a display item. The only issue is that parts can come apart if played with too roughly, like part of the first level comes apart, and you have to move a lot to fix it. It can be difficult to get to the moving parts. If they come apart and need repairs, there are also movable parts to make it a bit easier to get to the planes that may need repair. This set is an unbelievable collector's item that creates an amazing experience from unboxing to completion, and the interactive pieces make it feel like you could reenact the film. Our included pictures show the progress after completion of the first box and after completion of most of the third book, about halfway through the whole set.
