After buying a MacBook Pro in January 2019, I needed a USB hub with an HDMI port so I could hook up my external monitor. I have to say this hub has performed flawlessly. The MacBook hasn't complained one bit as I use the hub as a pass-through for my power cord. The monitor is recognized without a hitch, and I've been able to charge my iPhone and iPad again with no trouble. The acid test was when I hooked up an external USB DVD reader that requires two USB ports, one for data and one for power. I use this to install my tax software because, strangely, Amazon sells the disc for less than the download. Anyway, I'm happy to say the hub accepted both cables, powered up the drive and transferred the data to my Mac so I could install the software. I was so pleasantly surprised that as soon as the software finished installing, I wrote this review. The price seemed a bit high for a usb hub, even with an HDMI and usb C port (for the MacBook power pass-through); but it appears solidly made, with a nice matte finish. And considering how well it's performed so far, I'd say it's been well worth the price. Read more

Update April 1, 2019: Lention reached out to me after my review below, the wanted a chance to get me another one, offered with their apology. It got to me fast, and after 30 days of heavy daily use on a 2017 MacBook Pro, it has certainly proven it's worth and reliability. I torture tested it by charging an iPhone and an iPad and a cigar sized portable battery, on HDMI displayed to a 65" monitor (1080), while downloading images from a USB3 XQD card reader, and charging a second iPad mini on an adapter with the USB-C pass-through. With every port used it was very warm to the touch, but not hot. The unit is built on a strong, well made and finished aluminum case, the 4 USB plugs and HDMI plugs are mounted rock solid, nothing is sloppy or loose. The cord is thick with wear collars on each end, but flexible enough to bend as needed. Looks and feels built to last. I bought this originally as a second unit, backup for an equivalent from another company that gets a lot of use, but isn't built any better and costs a lot more. I'm gonna use this Lention as first choice and see how it goes. They make a number of products like this, I'll try them again for 3 reasons: Better price, quality-reliability, and great end-user customer care. I'm really glad this company reached out. They clearly value the individual customer experience. (original review) Bought this as a backup for another USB 3 adapter, and was used only 4 times in 3 weeks. Don't know when it stopped, but when I tried to use it on the 3rd week, it was dead. Plugged my USB 3 power line in from MBP charger, the little white light comes on, but now it won't send a charge to my MacBook Pro, the HDMI is out, as are all four USB 3 ports. I guess I got a bad one. Sending it back. Manufacturer needs better quality control and testing before these go out the door. Frustrating... Read more
I received my LENTION USB-C Multi-Port Hub on March 2, 2019 and today May 22, 2019 It stopped working. When it initially arrived it worked nicely. On one other occasion it did a similar thing, but I was able to get everything working again. This time the Hub is dead. I've written to the seller and will update my review after customer support has a chance to get back to me with next steps. Update 11-28-19 changed to 4 stars - Lention customer support was great and supplied a replacement unit right away. It worked nicely for approx. 6 months. It started causing my backup drive to disconnect in the middle of the night and then finally after 3 weeks of intermittent issues stopped charging my MacBook Air. I wrote to Lention and customer service promptly responded and offered a refund. I’m not an expert, but my theory is the hub does not have the power necessary to power my backup drive long term. I've had this operating for a few months, 24/7, with my laptop and about eight peripherals. One of the great things about it is that it passes the computer power supply through to the computer, and also uses it to run itself. I've got dual monitors plugged into it, and have only had one hiccup. Once I plugged in my laptop, and the displays didn't come on. No matter what I tried. So I unplugged the power connection, and let it cool down for a day. It always runs slightly warm, but that's no big deal. When I unplugged it, it was no more warm than usual, but I figured that would let things cool off anyway, and reset themselves. Sure enough, when I powered it up the next day, in the same configuration, everything ran just fine. And since then (it's been about two weeks), it's been running well. No problems. So overall, a great value for the money. Why pay a hundred or more for a port replicator when you can use this, and it's small enough to take with you anywhere? Read more

I bought two of these. One for my personal laptop and one for my work laptop. Needed something sleek, decently priced, that would get the job done and this device did it. I won't tell you it's the only device I'd ever use (it's just an adapter after all), but I will tell you I like the product overall. The material seems like plastic wrapped in a metallic shell. 4 usb3 ports, 1 hdmi 2.0 port, and 1 usb-c port. It plugs in well, their space gray color matches my space gray laptop. The cable is solid feels solid. It's decent quality work. I see no real reason not to take this item over much higher priced ones. Again, it's just an adapter. Hence why I bought two. Read more
