I use this stand for reading a kindle PaperWhite in bed. I need to lay almost flat so the reader needs to be almost parallel to the mattress. Cheaper stands won't do this as they use a simple ball and socket which limits range of motion. This stand allows much greater range so it is perfect for me. It easily swings out of the way when getting up or not in use. It is left-right symmetrical so works on either side equally well. The arms and mount are substantial so there is minimal sway when swiping. The bungee cord holders work for a kindle. This stand, though, does require a solid base to mount to. I made a small shelf out of a pair of 1x4x18" boards. This can be attached to a wall or the side of a nightstand. You need about a 2 - 3" overhang for clamping (less on a corner). I have been enjoying an earlier version of this product for years, but the third set of bungee cords wore out and I reluctantly looked for a replacement. Wow! In the interim, this product has managed to improve on perfection. The new version of the attachment head is a very secure and convenient clamp design. The black metal is a distinct improvement from the silver metal of old, and the desk clamp portion seems even more secure. It fits both my Pro and Air (the side clamps on the Air must be loose to accommodate the charge socket, but it is very secure with 2 of the 4 clamps tightened). This thing is fantastic. I used to own the standalone version but sadly gave it away to a friend (who couldn’t believe his good luck) because I live in a small apartment in an expensive city and there’s only so much room, so I got this desk attachment instead. It is glorious. Slides out of the way when not in use, can stretch nearly any which way when you need it. My Taotronics desk lamp accompanies it perfectly for reading comfortably at my desk for hours. Another of my friends said “I’m feeling extreme product envy right now” then they saw it. Also there was an issue with shipment (due to the shipper’s fault, not the seller’s) and the seller was awesomely fast in sending out a replacement. Really good people there. I am used to a standing non wheeled model where you have more options by moving the arm up or down. So at first this clamp type was a nothing burger for me. I have limited space for a wheeled model in my bedroom so went with this. After a couple of weeks now, I find it’s adequate, but not perfect, for my needs. I am using this for when I am on my tatami mat. The clamp only works vertically, which I wasn’t expecting, so initially it wouldn’t fit anything I have to attach it on. After much head scratching, I cut down my chest of drawers to a lower height, then took out a drawer on the nightstand and was able to attach it that way. My problem was that you have to have something really low to attach it too, if you are using it while on the floor. The holder does not hold my iPad 10” well, the top/btm clamps leave too much space, from front to back, and it almost fell out, so I am using my Android tablet in it now, which works perfectly. The bottom clamp is awfully big on the tablet holder and is a pain sometimes when something above that area needs to be used via touchscreen. I really had to play around with the arms, releasing the tension knobs, until it would lower enough to come close to me on the floor. I had to move the nightstand closer, onto the mat, to get close enough to comfortably see the screen. Although I had many problems, and have had to make a few consolations, still, it’s better than the other two systems I bought previously, so I do have to say, it’s much sturdier, and worth the money. I bought this holder for my surface pro because it states that it can hold it. Tilting the screen to almost vertical would make the holder loose enough that it would not hold my tablet and kept facing downward. The holder is nice and secure but it does not hold the angle. When I tried to return it, they charged me $20 for shipping. That's more than 20% the cost of the item to return for false claims. I am not happy and will not buy from this company again. Read more
