I really liked this product initially, but now I am finding that I am not able to use them (2 @ 109.00 + tax ea) at all. At first I was using the cool mist setting exclusively, as that is what’s frequently recommended, but after every surface in my house (including vertical surfaces) became covered in the “white dust” film that’s associated with the cool mist, I switched them to what I thought/hoped was exclusively warm mist. However, I was unable to completely turn off the blue lights (one remaining at all times), indicating that the cool mist was still being produced. I thought/hoped that maybe that just meant that the units were running, but the mist was excessively warm, but after running the units this way for several more weeks, they continue to produce the dreaded “white dust”. We are not smokers, but our windows are covered in the same type of film that is typically seen in the homes and vehicles of smokers, and our furniture is coated as well. I can only imagine what this “white dust” is doing to my lungs, as well as my belongings that are not so easily cleaned, such as paintings, fabrics, etc. I have been using humidifiers for years (the Vicks steam type) and have never experienced anything like this. This model looks sleek and “living room appropriate”, so I thought I’d splurge on the nice looking, nicely designed humidifiers, but having tried everything to resolve this, I am left with completely useless, expensive paper weights. Other than that, they seem to work beautifully, in our extremely dry Colorado winter climate, but I am not willing to constantly and completely wipe down every surface in my house, just to be able to do basic things like seeing out my windows. Amazon will allow me to send them back , but after 2 months of use my husband thought he was safe to get rid of the boxes, so that’s not an option, and we’re just stuck with them. My wife bought this humidifier several months ago, and complained she needed a towel underneath, because it leaked out of the bottom. I finally took a look at the unit -- Well thought out, design wise, lots of parts, including extra water filters and a small brush. However, I filled the water container -- removable -- and guess what? The seam between the clear top/side piece and the bottom piece was leaking like a sieve! Apparently, quality control is not this company's forte. There is no adhesive where the two parts fit together. I promptly tossed the unit, and ordered one of Amazon's Choice products. Read more
Update 6/5/24 After months of struggling with the machine but it more or less working it completely died and was unresponsive. I was sent a warranty machine. It took several weeks but it arrived without too much hassle. Unfortunately the machine out of the box did not work. I have gone through three cycles of drying the machine for days and starting it over. I live where the humidity is 35%. If set at 60-80% the machine will ran at best for 1-2 minutes before shutting off. We have two hygrometers in the room and even when it cuts off at 60% the room humidity is never above 50%. These machines have severe technical issues and I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere. I should have returned this machine within the original window which was my mistake. Original review This humidifier works fairly well in its function producing humidity… But it’s ability to keep a 600 square-foot room at a desired humidity does not exist. At best it keeps a two or 3 foot radius around the machine at desired humidity, and the rest of the room is left Unregulated. Because of this, the machine is of absolutely no use to me. If I run a fan on low next to the humidifier, it never shuts off which means it is incapable of bringing the full room to 45% humidity I live in a arid region where the average exterior humidity is around 35%. Separately I purchased a hygrometer and the hygrometer reads over 10% different in humidity than the machine itself when the machine reaches 45% humidity. The hygrometer only reads 35% even with a 2% margin of error of the hygrometer the humidifier is not keeping my room anywhere near the desired humidity level. If I place the hygrometer on the other side of the room, the humidity drops even more. If your only goal is to run a timed humidity dispersal, this may be a good unit for you as it is quiet and has a large reservoir but if your goal is to set a humidity level in walk away this machine is a complete failure. Additionally, the Levoit 1 800 number, no longer answers, phone calls and direct you to their website. The chat bot and/or supposed human has no knowledge of the machines and is incapable of answering any questions. Read more
