I never write reviews but I'm so happy with this monitor I couldn't avoid it. I'm a software developer and the real estate is perfect for having your coding editor on one side and your references on the other. Working on a web app while looking at DevTools full-length is incredible. I recently had to use Excel and wow, what a joy. Some people complained about the brightness, which had me worried, but for me it's perfect, maybe because I'm not a gamer. I even had to dim it down. I also really like the joystick for changing preferences. I've always hated the many buttons you have to press on most monitors to change them. They did away with that here. To start, this monitor is BIG. Physically imposing. My previous monitor, a LG 34WP65C-B, had the same resolution (5120x2160) and felt big at the time. This monitor has the same resolution at a larger physical size, so the PPI (pixel per inch) drops a bit (~140 PPI vs ~160 PPI), but it’s not as noticeable. It does have one big benefit to me: text is slightly bigger so it’s easier on my aging eyes. I do find myself moving my head more to see the corners, but it’s not bad. The curvature of the screen helps (the 34WP65C-B is flat), and it’s “immersive” enough. The screen brightness is enough for me, though at the highest brightness, it’s definitely dimmer than my other monitors. But, I turn brightness down anyway, and my room is not too bright, so it works for me. Connectivity wise, it has TB4 (along with DisplayPort and HDMI), along with 2 USB-A. I got my webcam connected to the monitor, and it all goes to my laptop via TB4. Sleep/wake, it all works fine. For those with an Apple device, be warned that you’ll probably need the M1 Pro/Max to get a decent HDPI scaling (like 3840x1620 scaled). When I tried a plain M1 Mac Mini, it only gave the lower resolutions (~1200 vertical). For giggles, I hooked up my Nintendo Switch for some gaming and it’s ok. Gaming is not my primary use for it, but it’ll do. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase. Good resolution, good size, and good functionality. Just be sure you got a large enough desk to hold it, but I think it’s a keeper. Read more

The image is great. The size and the resolution is awesome to display a lot of content at once. But I’m experiencing random disconnections using the provided thunderbolt 4 cable and a Dell XPS 15. I can use it the whole day with no issues sometimes, but then it starts to disconnect and reconnect at random. Another issue I have is with the speaker. The monitor frame vibrates a lot with bass making a lot of noise. Even video calls with someone with a more bass voice is enough to start the noises on the frame. I wouldn’t recommend this monitor, but I still think I will keep it because we don’t have many option on this size/resolution. Read more
Review for the LG 40BP95C W 39.7'' Curved UltraWide 5K2K Nano IPS Monitor. I really like this monitor. Its a large screen but the monitor+stand does not take up a lot of space. Side to side - it is big (it is a 40 inch monitor), front to back is not that deep. Thoughts: - The picture is very nice! - The monitor looks good - Easy to set up (thank goodness, I have set up a lot of monitors that are a pain, LG seems to have it figured out. I was afraid when I got a monitor this big that it would be hard to setup up - but this was simple.) - Sound is ok (it has speakers) but I am using external speakers so that is not really something I was worried about. Thoughts on using the monitor with my laptop (Surface Pro 8) with a docking station - The first docking station I used did not really work with the monitor. It could not provide any reasonable resolution. - I then used a newer docking station and it worked fine. I initially set up the monitor as one continuously monitor. The image looked great and made for a very large working space. This would have been a fine setup. - My final configuration was to use two HDMI connections to my docking station (I had to use two docking stations to make this work). The monitor now works like it two physical monitors. I really like this using it this way, MS Windows flows fine across the two virtual monitors but apps think I have two physical monitors. Each of my two virtual monitors is using a 2560x2160 resolution. Very nice. Very happy with the monitor. I would recommend this to a friend, am glad I got it and am using it. Read more
I'll start by saying this is a fantastic monitor. It is large, crisp, and very color accurate. I have it hooked up to an M4 Mac mini and it is great for editing videos. However, I have it next to an ultrawide OLED, and I can tell a massive difference. The OLED is much better for watching movies, gaming, etc. This LGs colors are accurate, but that means they don't pop. The monitor is bright, but doesn't "pop" like an OLED. The blacks on this are very grey and there is a lot of light bleed. This is a great monitor for professional use, but if you're looking for an all around consumption and creation monitor, you might want to try something else.
