I was looking for a simple and inexpensive - but functional and reliable - DVD player to replace an old one that finally broke. This one fits the bill. While some might find the remote too small (and easily misplace-able), I like it because it takes up less space. The only thing I would change about the product is that the TV hook-up that came with the player is a little shorter than I would've liked. My TV is mounted above my mantle and I was hoping to put the DVD player on a bookshelf to the side. Because the player is so compact, however, it does not take up much room on my mantle and it's not as much of an eyesore there as I thought it would be. Read more
LG is my preferred electronics brand. Got a great price on a year earlier model. No complaints at all as far as functionality. It works great. This was bought for my grandson's room to use when he's visiting for the w/e. It's fine for someone who isn't farsighted. The remote is small, so ditto for the wording. I have trouble reading it. Truthfully, if it was for MY use, I wouldn't be happy for that reason. Read more
sold us a region 4 dvd player in region 1. won't play usa dvds due to wrong region. lists item as imported but that is misleading. the number of good reviews leads me to believe the company just pulls them off random piles and sends them out. when we first got it, it did play us dvds just not well. so we rearranged them in the house to use this in a seldom used room. Just found out it wont play us movies, it will however play workout videos which is what we've been using it for.jerks Read more
Great DVD player for the price but note that it only has RCA outputs Read more
This was a big disappointment and it was not what the description said it was. I had a DP132 2014 model DivX player and it played any of my collection of DivX videos made with codec 5.xx to 10. The 2014 model says DivX on the box. This model says Xvid on the box and does not play DivX videos. I gave it 2 stars because it will play ordinary DVDs on Ordinary TVs at ordinary quality. I have returned the unit. Read more
What I wanted was time elapsed/total length of movie found by pressing display button. Who wants to watch a movie without knowing how long, can't plan your day? My list of most important features was Progressive Scan, Time Lapsed/Length, Full Size Remote, and a dvd player that lasts longer than a paper plate ! Well even though they said how small the remote was and I studied the photos and measurements I was still surprised by how small it is. I am a 5'5" woman and the remote length is from my fingertips to the first deep horizontal crease in my palm. It is slightly wider than my 2 middle fingers, yet just spans between my forefinger and pinky. I HATE dinky remotes! That said, for a small remote it is very well planned, the best I've seen. Most buttons are rectangles and easily pushed by my size hands, if you've got big hands I'd move on to another player. I dislike the remote size but it's doable. The only problem besides size is the inconvenient placing of the Pause button, and that it is the smallest button on the remote and a tiny round button at that! I hit the Stop button by mistake (intuitively) and it went to LG logo screen, but pressing play it IMMEDIATELY played the movie again, just as well as the pause button except it blanked the screen. Oh, the remote responds quickly and rewind is perfect to catch the last sentance you missed (though I wish they had a button for that). My last "disposable as a paper plate all region dvd player MADE BY SONY" rewound too slow so I always had to rewind twice just to catch that word-annoying! So that is my list of everything important to me and how this player sized up in comparison. I WOULD LIKE TO TELL MANUFACTURERS HOW MUCH I DESPISE JUNK ELECTRONICS FILLING OUR DUMPS, CHINA DOESN'T CARE, I'M HOPING LG MADE IN SO. KOREA DOES CARE AND "GETS IT" Read more
This item was very easy to install and worked perfectly right out of the box. It come with the remote AND a battery! Installation was as follows - remove everything from the box - plug in the color coded connectors on the supplied cable into the same color receptacles on the DVD Player and connect the other end of the three headed connector to the color coded receptacles on the back of your TV - plug the power cable into an outlet - install remote battery - and your good to go. So it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it works perfectly and it was easy to install and the price was perfect for this retired old duffer. Read more
Works fine so far and is very small, which I like. The setup is so simple you do not need the included instructions. I wish it had an HDMI connection; that would make it perfect! Read more
