Perfect Gear Bag

First of all: WOW. I pulled this bag out of the package and my jaw literally dropped. This bag is huge and so so nice. The zippers look pretty durable and they are easy to zip and unzip. I could probably fit 2 sets of gear in this bag if I wanted to - for reference I am 5’4” and my gear doesn’t take up a whole lot of space. There is plenty of space in this bag, and I love that there’s a shoulder strap for easy carrying. There are extra zipper pockets as well, giving EVEN MORE space to store items. I wasn’t expecting such a high quality bag, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I will be recommending this bag to any firefighter who will listen! Love love love it! Read more

Quality reflects price

This bag is expensive, but you do get what you pay for. The material is strong and shake durable, the zippers are beefy and well made, and the bag is much bigger than you would need for standard turnouts. There is plenty of room to carry your gear plus anything extra. Read more

Roomy

Bought this for my son who is in academy. The department did not have enough gear bags for all the trainees and this is just like the loaners issued by the department. There are some negative reviews, but as long as this bag gets him through academy, the cost will be worth it. The bag arrived in good condition and is huge! He is now able to get just about everything into this bag as opposed to the three bags he had been carrying. He’s happy with it, so I’m happy with it. *UPDATE* Son has been using this gear bag for close to three years now and it is still in great condition with hardly any visible signs of wear. Definitely recommend this. Read more

Pretty good

Very big, fits all my gear, the big pouch on the front(or back depending on how you carry your bag) broke after a few months of having it. Don’t pack it too tight in that pouch and don’t drag the bag on the floor. I’m a pretty big girl(muscular) and I’m 5’8. The first day I used this bag for bringing my gear to the academy, stay with me now, it threw me. In the bags defense I tried to run, but I mean... IT THREW ME!! I stepped forward and I lost my balance so I stepped back and the bag went forward and it just... it threw me across the room.... it was a very traumatizing moment in my life, but a few juice boxes and a bag of chips later I was okay and went back to my training:) Read more

Saw its last TT after over 5 years of use.

I bought this bag in 2014 after finally getting tired of trying to stuff my gear into the much smaller bag that my department at the time had kindly provided. This bag provided all the space I needed for my gear and then some. Up until this last week when it finally died, I carried my turnout gear, SCBA mask, walkie strap, PPE (traffic vest, eyewear, hearing protection, spare gloves/hood, particulate respirator, etc.) tool bag, and squad coat without any difficulty. Part-timers like myself did not have gear lockers and we were frequently moved between stations, so the gear came home after every shift and this bag saw a lot of use as a result. After landing full-time elsewhere, I kept this bag in service at my part-time department for a couple years until I finally decided to leave, at which point this bag became my go-to for my infrequent TTs at my full-time department. Oddly enough, this was when it started showing signs of failure. I began to notice the bag's bottom had begun to wear down to the point where I could see through the material in some spots. Not unexpected given its heavy use and there's probably not much that can be done to prevent that. As I said, this bag saw heavy use in its first 4 years of service. The first thing to actually go was the stitching for the shoulder strap loop a couple of months ago, which was an easy repair. After reinforcing the stitching, the bag was solid again. Finally, earlier this week, the helmet compartment decided to completely tear away from the rest of the bag along its bottom seam. This seems to be a common problem with this bag going by other reviews and I suspect that it's because one of the connection loops for the shoulder strap is stitched in to the helmet compartment rather than the main body of the bag, which puts excessive strain on the seam when using the shoulder strap. I think that in order to prevent this, either the seam should be reinforced or the strap's connection point should be moved to the main body of the bag. Or both. Overall, this bag has served me very well over the last half decade. Because of this, I will be ordering a replacement and I'm going to see if avoiding the shoulder strap improves its lifespan.
