It is water resistant. just wipe off the water. I was looking for a backpack that was neutral bit useful. The color of this is the perfect neutral ivory and I love it. It holds a lot. Books, laptop, tablet, pens, snacks, and water bottle. I spent some time going thru which of my water bottles and cups will fit in the side pockets. I went thru the cups we have here so if I wasn't personally able to test it then it will not be listed below. Cups that do fit are: Stanley ice flow, Owala water bottle (24 oz?), Brumate hydration, Brumate Nav series (12 oz, 20 oz, 30 oz), Brumate 25 oz muv, Simple Modern 24 oz, Yeti 18 oz water bottle, and all the bottles/cups we have under 20 oz. Cups that don't fit: Stanley 40 oz, Stanley 30 oz, Simple Modern trek 40 oz, Simple Modern Trek 30 oz, Owala 30 oz or larger, Brumate era 40 oz, Brumate era 30 oz, Brumate Muv 35 oz, Brumate toddy 30 oz. Most cups with a handle do not fit. Now this bag is still very comfortable and can be used for so many different things. It seems very well made and looks like it will last a while. I ordered this bag for my 17-year-old daughter. She loves it! It holds quite a few books and her laptop. It has great versatility, with various pockets and compartments, making it a flexible choice for her busy schedule. She has loaded it down with books, and the straps are sturdy and secure. This backpack has pockets galore! The main compartment has a padded secure pouch for a laptop, plus two smaller pouches for items such as a phone or a power bank. The front pocket is the full length of the backpack and it includes a zippered pocket, a mesh pocket and a pouch. There is a zippered pencil pouch on the front of that pocket, along with another side-loading front pocket. Each side boasts a pocket large enough to fit a standard-size water bottle, a travel coffee cup, or even a Stanley if you use the straps (see photo). The back has a zippered security pocket. The backpack is a water resistant, light cream colored fabric. Don't be afraid of the light color though. The fabric is wipeable and with a little bit of warm water, she was able to clean up some dirt marks. The hardware is high quality, and the zippers have cute pulls. The zippers are smooth and sturdy, they feel like they will last. The handle and adjustable straps are padded, thick and well made. They will hold up to a lot of weight. It is big enough to pack for an overnight trip, but does not have the look of a big bulky backpack. It is surprisingly lightweight. It was a great choice for a high school student. The first day my daughter used this, her friends asked where she got it, took pictures and complemented the quality. This is her favorite backpack she has used! Read more
