Great for pulling hoses. However, please BE CAREFUL. These pullers are sharp enough to pierce hoses, especially on older vehicles. Had a co-worker accidentally pierce a heater hose using these when replacing a water pump on a customer’s work van. Small enough leak that no one knew what happened until the owner brought it back to the shop days later. As you can probably imagine, the guy was not happy. Again, great tools but BE CAREFUL. Works good, pick ends are a little short for some hoses though. Read more
What can I say, they are from Lisle so the quality is better than average. The longer picks make getting into tight spaces a snap. The handles provide excellent grip and have holes that allow them to be hung. They make quick work of coolant hoses, cotter pins, brake springs, large electrical connectors, et cetera. Use caution, as they are quite sharp out of the blister pack and can easily cut a radiator hose if you do not dull them a bit before use. Also, I do not recommend them for prying. They are quality chromed steel, but are somewhat brittle and will snap if excess force is applied. I use at least one of them every day. I feel this is an essential tool set for any auto mechanic. Should you find yourself needing to pull a complete brain through the nasal cavity of a skull, these are wonderful! As an unintended consequence, they also do an amazing job of loosening up stubborn radiator hoses and are built MUCH stronger than other picks of this type that I've used. I straight up stabbed through the side of a stubborn radiator hose with the longest hook in the kit and just yanked it out of the engine compartment where clearance to work it out what a pain. The hook didn't deform or even seem to care about the abuse. The range of sizes and shapes in the set are also pretty good. I'm able to use them on stuff as small as vacuum lines and as big as your dreams dare to imagine. I doubt I'll ever have much need for my much smaller, and much less durable, picks ever again. Perhaps just for small o-rings. Read more
These are good but I would have wanted also a straight spike for a particular access problem I have. Read more
I have needed a good set of large picks, seems you always need to poke or snag or occasionally even remove a hose. The handles on these are OK, not great but they are smaller so it does make it easier to reach down into the guts of a tight engine compartment. The picks themselves are perfect, heavy gauge metal that is not going to bend or even flex with hard use. Read more
Funny story... I bought this set and a week later my coworker bought a "better" set off the matco truck. He showed me his set and it looked awfully similar... in fact you could say they were identical except his handles had the matco stamp... and his set was $80... just more proof you don't need to get raked over the coals with "name brands" to get quality tools.
