The LDA Rain Jacket works - It is truly Waterproof. I finally had a chance to wear this rain jacket in the rain for 30 minutes. It kept me dry and did not leak. So I've had this for about 18 mos. now, heading into the 2nd fall/winter season. I like this jacket because it's functional and stylish. When it gets cold, wet and windy, I normally wear multiple layers and I use this as my top layer to keep the body heat trapped and the moisture and wind out, which it does quite well. The longer length also helps to keep me drier and warmer. The 2-way zipper is a big plus because it allows me to walk comfortably without restricting my gait. I appreciate that the 2 pockets are zippered to keep my phone, wallet, and keys secured and dry. The packability of this jacket is great, especially if you're traveling during fall or winter. Instead of bringing one big and heavy coat, I can just pack this with an inner shell or a few different hoodies. So why the missing star? Positive attributes: the length (few travel jackets offer protection past the waist), the full hood, the low weight. Stitching is well sealed and sleeves snap at the wrists. Negative: unfortunately, the zipper isn’t sturdy or substantial enough, and there’s no other form of closure available. I bought a medium and it fits my average frame to use as a raincoat. If one were to use it over other warm gear, a large might be preferable. I have worn it twice on short walks, and no more wet thighs like I get with waist length coats. After I get under cover, a good shake and the water drops sling off. I wondered about having a double zipper. At first, I mistakenly thought it could not be undone to separate the jacket sides. I had to Google how to do it. It’s actually a cool feature. You can unzip from the bottom to get to pants pockets, without undoing the whole zipper. The hood is cut out a bit on the sides allowing peripheral vision. The green is not too bright but a nice shade. I would not say it’s very breathable (not Goretex), the coat is made to keep moisture out and does just that. But I don’t think it’s as hot and stifling as a straight up rubber raincoat. In a hot climate it might get uncomfortable. Overall I’m very pleased. Read more
