Live at the Circus Maximus

My wife and I attended this concert in Rome, but were seated a ways back. The sound was a amazing, from the first notes that David Gilmour played and the huge screen was very good visually. His current band and singers, including his daughter, is pure magic. We noticed a few drones flying around and a very tall boom lift with a camera operator during the entire show. I knew they were filming and this is the result. It was a great experience to re-live this spectacular concert, except we were able to see close-ups of the band and stage. The sound quality is excellent and the jacket printing and insert is quality printing. They even included Gilmour's cat decals you see on his guitars. I'll be putting one on my guitar. Flew in from St Louis to Los Angeles to see the show at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood and the three shows at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. Saw the IMAX release and the 35mm print in a regular movie theater. Simply put, This is a great show. One of the best you'll ever witness in your life. David sounds great, especially for his age. His daughter Romany makes a stunning debut at this concert, playing harp on the cover of a 1999 song called "Between two points". Her father couldn't be more proud of her and it shows in the glances they exchange while on stage. Their voices blend flawlessly as she takes her place among the three other back up singers. A nice mix of Pink Floyd and the new material from his "Luck and Strange" album, which deals in themes about our mortality. The playful interplay between the other players is evident here. A more intimate portrayal captured here with 25 cameras over three nights at this classic venue in Rome. A more intimate experience than what you feel being at multiple live shows, this film captures the full effect and power of his live performance and energy exchange with his mesmerized audience. Saw this concert at the Hollywood Bowl and it was incredible, even though half the crowd was watching the Dodgers win the World Series on their phones. Seriously though, this video is great. Gave a few copies as Christmas gifts. Definitely one for the collection! A+++ Read more

This is a great concert, with a mixture of his solo work and of course Pink Floyd classic songs. The sound and video are excellent. The light shows are also great. There are songs from Luck and Strange, Interviews, and Music videos at the end of the 2nd disc which I have not watched but plan to soon. His daughter does sing and plays harp on one song and helps with backing vocals on others. This will be a valuable addition to any Pink Floyd/ Gilmour fans. Read more

I enjoy every Gilmour concert release and find highlights in each. This one though is a strong contender for his best though I don’t think I’m qualified to make that call. My wife who doesn’t really know much Floyd and certainly no Gilmour agreed to watch the concert with me. We turned on the surround system and turned down the lights. Within 10 minutes she commented “this is really nice” and added she’d happily go with me to one of his shows if we got the chance. As soon as the Boat/Great Gig pairing played she commented how she loved the womens voices paired with David’s steel guitar playing. My wife had tears in her eyes by the end of those songs. Comfortably Numb with its light show blew us away. A wonderful end to a wonderful show. The accompanying documentary (which I watched first) only added to my enjoyment knowing the players were truly having a good time playing and touring together. I hadn’t read or watched any previews about this before watching it which only added to my surprise. This was a great show. Nice gatefold packaging and accompanying booklet. A+ in every way. Bravo.
